Getting....... some more expertise SCOPE + RIFLE >>>
« on: December 06, 2009, 05:22:26 AM »
This Sunday morning 9:00 am, I wanted to do something different.

Do some more technical precision scope sighting.
I read a document written that explains how to inspect a scope when you get it new.
In addition read another article that teaches how to inspect and set a rifle scope for long range shooting.
I never liked the Rifles before but now I love it and all the techniques, physics and math involved.

Tomorrow MONDAY I will receive a Centerpoint power class 8-32 x 56 30mm tube and I will set this
Scope to a very accurate rifle the Marauder. I want to set this scope so precise to use it like a kind of
SNIPER air rifle, that means know the scope and the rifle shooting ranges from 15 yards until 100 yards.
I will increase the rifle fill up until 3000 psi and get it to the range and set the scope yard by
yard until I prepare a Drop Chart of my rifle with this scope. That will take me, I do not know how much
time or days, but it will be something interesting to enjoy more my air rifles.
I practice today with the RWS 48 .177 and with the Gamo VH .177 just the beginning, set with precision
the crosshairs. \\  I will keep posting about this topic.   ///   KP4-ATT - GERALD

I assume you've already found this article, Gerald: http://www.gatewaytoairguns.com/library/The%20A%20Team%20Scope%20Setup.htm  Sounds like just the ticket for that new scope you have coming.  I'm also attaching a file that may be of some help, it's a target that sounds like it would be perfect for what you intend to do.  Good luck, and keep us posted.

DAVE ... THANKS FOR THE LINK. THAT IT IS JUST PART OF THE WHOLE EXERCISE I WILL  DO.

THE BEGINNIG OF THE DROP CHART  DEPENDS OF THE SCOPE DUE TO FEW TEST THAT I HAVE TO PERFORM TO IT TO VERIFY IF THE SCOPE WILL RESPOND TO MULTIPLES CHANGES AS THE PROCEDURES I READ AT LONG RANGE HUNTING WEB SITE.  // GERALD

Gerald, you are taking your Air Gunning experience to a higher level.   Nothing like knowing where a projectile is while in flight.   I have a custom .270 rifle sighted for 500yds and I keep a chart handy for every 50yds of distance till that distance.   Can even plot hits past 500yds if needed.  But that seldom comes up here in the South.  If I was out in the Western states I would give it a try.
Gentleman of Fortune.
