Ugly spring comp..but it works!
« on: March 24, 2007, 11:08:20 AM »
Called my good friend and master welder today. I'm friggan busy he said. Stopped by and less than 5 minutes he said I got an idea.
Mind you after some thought, he could have built the ultimate spring compressor to date.
He said "I got some uni-bar here somewhere and a c-clamp and" .......1 hour later my broken spring in my S1K was fixed.
It's not pretty, but it work's.
The barrel and action sits perfect inside of the uni-bar...(electricians use it in ceilings for cable runs) and then he cut a c-clamp with his torches leaving only the shroud that houses the wrench part of it all, and welded the shroud to the uni-bar. The pic sez the rest.

My S1K is singing again...and shooting very well. Thanks to my friend Steve.

That's not bad at all and it's streamline too. It helped get the S1K BACK IN ACTION and that's what count's.:) I built mine awhile back,my early day's of airgunning. Took some idea's from  different one's and threw one together. When I was done it looked like some midevil weapon that you would use to storm castle's with hehe but it work's great.Ed
I airgun hunt therefore I am... };)  {SHADOWS Tunes & Camo}  airguncamo@yahoo.com

I'm sure you've heard the saying....."the simpler the better",,,, well it's almost always true.  I think your compressor is great.  It does everything you need it to and it's easy to operate and store.  Congrats on getting the compressor and your S1K back in action.

Fantastic design, Greg! For the amount of time I put into mine( and it's not nearly as good as I would like it), I could have made 10 like yours, replaced my broken spring, polished every surface. relubed it and shot 200 pellets! With all the holes, one could easily add an adjustable stopblock and clampblock, too.
