What is a fair Price ?
« on: December 08, 2009, 02:32:11 AM »
I may be able to lay hands on a fairly new SCUBA tank.   What is a fair price? What should I look for in terms of determining any conditiion issues ?  It has been used for paint-ball guns.  Can any of the fittings / hoses be applied to use on a Discovery? Or other PCPs. Should I take it somewhere and have it inspected?

I want to start using a PCP but have held off due to not wanting to use a hand pump as a source of pressurizing.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I picked up my scuba tank for $100 bucks.  It was used but only a couple of years old and in good shape.

Check the Hydro date.... it needs to be hydro  tested every 5 years and also a visual inspection once a year.  Does it have a "K" valve ?????

I'm sure others will chime in with more advice.....

prices vary quite a bit,.......ive seen them as low as $50 and up dependent on condition. tanks that have a current hydro and visual demand a premium, although here in san diego, ive comne acroos a few that were less than $100 with both inspections current.
keep in mind.craigslist is your friend !

I have seen new Catalina tanks 80cu 3000psi sell for under $140.00 with free shipping..:) But if you can get your hands on a good 80 cu 3000psi tank that has been hydroed recently and at a good price like $100.00 or less you are in good shape. It cost me $30.00 to get my new tank hydro tested and $10.00 a year for visual inspection.

Fifty dollars for the price has been mentioned.   Believe I will ask to inspect or have inspected before  bargining on the  price.  May not even be worth $50.  I'd like to get it for free!!!

I am working through a 3rd party so it is slow going.

Thanks for the replies.
