Gamo/Daisey Model 131 .177...:) Added Pictures
« on: March 26, 2007, 11:02:20 AM »
Had a chance to put the Daisey made by Game in Spain.....:) through some target shooting today.. Never have done much with it since I had it tuned by CDT and a GRT-III trigger installed.. Also did a refinish on the stock which did not come out so hot but it works so I am happy..:) But today I gave  it a workout.. hehe.. I had a small 3-12X40AO Barska scope on it.. Not a very clear scope compaired to the BSA 3-12X40AO.. The difference was clearity and field of view.. The BSA is better for clearity but weighs more.:)

Anyway I started with the bottom of the line pellets.. Daiseys... and worked up to the RWS Superdomes.. Not much success with any of them.. Was shootin about 4 inch patterns at 30 yards.. Yikesssssss.. So I thought I would try CP's and WALLA. Finally found the pellet that that little bugger likes... hehe

I think PBJ has a collection of these model air rifle's and the earlier ones.. His reveiw on his Daiseys got me all hot and bothered and I found one on Auction Arms.. Great deal a $45.00... The earlier ones have different trigger setup and the GRT-III does not work in it...

It is a smaller air rifle about the size of the Cadet, maybe a bit longer.. They are not produced anymore but in my opinion with this one.. It is a fantastic little shooter.. I did not take any pictures but with the CP's I was getting 1/2" groups at 30 yards.. :) It is just a target gun for me and that is all I will ever use it for..

That's where all the fun is Bill... hehe.. Spending two or three hours trying to figuer out which pellet the girl likes to eat..:) The challenge of it all..:)  As long as a springer is in good mechanical condition there should always be a pellet that will group well.. But of course you have many other varieables to consider as well.. hehe

So next week I will start with the RWS 34's and the B3's...:) Another learning experience I am sure.. Just love to shoot these things.............:)

MAN!!! who refinished that stock...........that is just terrible Gene, I think you need to send that out for some rework, to maybe, uhm, me, I just can't ever be happy knowing that poorly refinished stock is bringing your collection down.  I think, yup, uh huh, send it to me, I will also give it a thourough 10 year break-in period, then refinish it and send it back to you, after another 10 years...deal???  please, please, please????

Nice rifle, and I don't think the refinish looks bad at all, but then Bob did say you are a perfectionist:)

i just picket up a 131 at a local pawn shop
i am amazed at the accuracy and at 20 yards open sites...i may add a one piece base with a leaper scope...
i am using florescent stick on dots, nickel coin size as a target
i was suspicious of the composite covered barrel and breech area, trigger guard  but was pleasantly surprised at the overall performance

i have added this as a 'keeper' in my growing airgun collection

i can hone my long range target shooting discipline, by using airguns, both pistol and rifle and save $$$ money and time on reloading my ammo...more shooting time...a zen thing for me

i am disappointed that i could find very little infor on the web searchs...would like to know more about this rifle and the adjustment of the trigger if that is what the screw behind the trigger is for...i do not want to do anything, as the trigger pull is very nice with consistent letoff...

does this gun require lube and if so what is preferred???

looking forward to your replies

all the best.......... ! ! !

Yep they are very accurate shooter out to about 20 -30 yards. You will find that at 10 - 15 yards you will stack em... :) I stil have mine and every once in a while I shoot it to keep the spider webs clear...:) You will find that it will take the GRT-III trigger as well. That really make her sweet to shoot.

thanks for your reply gene
i am presently making seals to replace on my crossman 101 and 102 pumpers, the 102 is a repeater, both are 22 cal and were my grandfathers...
also doing my benjamin model 317 i purchased after working delivering circulars when i was eight years old ...
just did a lube/tun on a totaly unmarked 177 call break barrel pistol...maybe a soviet as it is not as crude as the cheaper chinese i have seen...aand need to reeder seals for my rws m6...it was stolen aand recovered at a pawn shop via my efforts and somewhere down the line it was dry fired...absolutly no pressure when fired...
that one u i was lucky to get the step by step on take ddown and reasembly with pictures and haave located replacement seals for around $26.00

i haave really gotten into air rifles for therapy since being runover on my bmw paris-dakar m/cycle in 2006...while visiting my daughter in sedona arizona & prospecting..was to return home along a 1850 mile route the next day...so the air guns are good therapy for my eye hand courdination, andexercise for my arms as i have grown weak/flabby with almost a four year non scheduled vacation

pardon my spelling/typo's as my hands go hay wire after typing a paragraph or so

all the best to you and yours

I think what it really is is that Gene being the monster sized man he is just looks real mean at the gun and tells it "You better shoot well or I WILL tie you into a pretzel" and of course the gun complies and behaves itself.......
