WHICH IS BETTER TO USE
« on: December 20, 2009, 07:02:14 PM »
in a bb gun, steel or copper coated  bb's?I know bb's will damage a rifled barrel, but do the steel bb's damage the rifled barrel more than copper? I have tons of copper bb's and they seem to be leaving a coating in the bottle. I imagine this will also get in the barrel. I only shoot bb's out of a couple of pistols, my Red Ryder, and my old 66 Powermaster. What about accuracy? Just curious.

I think they both will hurt rifle barrels, since copper BB's are just copper plated steel anyway. I only use BB's in smoothbore barrels as the rifling seems to mess up any accuracy the BB may have. I have had problems with copper plated BB's jambing in CO2 pistols, so I only use Daisy steel (zink plated) BB's now. I also find that the Daisy BB's are more accurate than the copper plated ones.

I've never seen good quality copper coated BBs, they always seem to have uneven coverage, bare spots...  Copperheads are terrible, might as well throw them at the target (or throw them away).
The Avanti shot is terrific.
