Simple plans for a shooting bench
« on: December 22, 2009, 03:37:22 AM »
Several folks have asked about plans for my shooting bench.  Here they are.  Merry Christmas!

Materials:

all are 8 ft length, treated 2-by pine

2x4's  three
2x8's  three
4x4's  one
one box of galvanized framing nails
Rolled rubber matting cut to fit the table top
(all can be found at Home Depot or at Lowes)

Tools needed:  Hammer, framing square, hand saw or circular saw.

one 2x8 is cut to form the three pieces of the table top  The longest piece is 42 inches long.  The shorter pieces are cut at 45 degrees, 24 inches on the short side to fit the length of the under-frame.
one 2x8 is cut in half to form the bench seat.  A slot is cut on one side of the middle of each seat board to fit around the back leg.
one 2x8 is cut in 4 sections to form the bench legs -- depending on how high you want your seat, there will be some left over.
one 4x4 is cut into three equal lengths of 32 inches to form the table legs.
one 2x4 is cut to form a box 2 ft on each side as part of the under-frame of the table
two 2x4's are cut to complete the under-frame of the table top and to brace the table legs and the bench legs.

T,

Thanks for the plans.  Saw your bench in one of your posts and was gonna inquire about it.  Neat idea and design.  Really do appreciate you sharing this with the rest of us.  Best Holiday Wished to All.
