I'm given air guns for Christmas
« on: December 22, 2009, 11:17:59 AM »
A while back I bought one of the New issue Daisy 25's for my self.I love it so much that I decided to give them out for presents.Bass Pro has  em on sale for 35.00 so my brother got 1 my nephews gettin 1 and my buddy's gettin 1 plus I had to buy another for myself just to hold onto and leave stock.I had to buy another to leave stock because I'm gonna finally buy myself a chrony and I need a bench mark to compare the one I tuned to.I took the 25 apart and added 3 brass washers behind the piston for a little more preload and some piston whieght, seems to have juiced it up a little.Oh ya my 4 year old little girl is getting a custom pink Buck.Any body else giving guns for Christmas?

I gave guns two years in a row, first year my boys got Red Ryders, second year my boys got Daisy 880's and my wife got a 2240 rifle conversion.  All 5 guns now reside in my closet and have fewer than 300 shots through them total I would guess.  This year I gave myself a Benjamin 397, I'm thinking it'll get more use than the other 5 :)

Current shooters: Beeman HW97K .177 with Hawke Eclipse 4x16x50SFAO and Steve C. stock, Beeman R9 .177 with Hawke Airmax 4-12x40AO and Gene\'s Midas touch, Air Arms S200 with Bushnell Banner 6x24x40AO Rowan brass bling and Steve C. custom stock, BAM B25, BAM B40 .177 with BSA 3x12x44AO, Benjamin Marauder .22, Benjamin 397 pumper.

Kool !  Wish there was a Bass Pro near here.

I still have my grandfather's  early 1920s  model 25 that was handed down to me  50 years ago. Spent every penney of my allowance on BBs  for many years. Shot so many through it that I wore out the magazine tube. Oh, the many hours of fun I had with that gun !!!!!

Think I'll tell my kids to ask Santa to bring me one.

I"m thinking of giving my salesmen guns :) However, I fear they will have so much fun shooting they may not sell anything....decisions, decisions.....

My son in law got into it air guns without any prompting from me!  He didn't know that I shot!  My wifey bought him a break barrel air pistol for Christmas.

The new mag fits to old ... and it can be tuned some ????  Even Kooler !!!

To this day, when I think about that gun, I can still can see that BB hooking 4 inches left at 20 yards. Learned to aim using the left side of the front site blade.  Still screws me up with my iron site powder burners  if I don't stop and think about centering the front site with them.  :D

Heck with waiting - I'm gonna go push the button.

Thanks guys !!!

Was gonna give myself a new Daisy 25, but for some reason Bass Pro won't ship airguns to NC. Every other online retailer will, but not them, and they're the only ones selling the 25!  Nuts!

Gave my sons airguns for their birthdays years ago. They don't get shot anymore either. Gave my wife a custom pink Crosman for our anniversary last month. She loved it. Now all she needs is a few moments to get out and shoot it.

Man this a great forum. Thanks ledtone for the offer. But i just got me one! :)

I stopped by Dick's Sporting Goods at lunchtime and doggonnit, they have the Model 25 now too! :)
They are $10 dollars higher than Bass Pro but shipping would probably work out close to that anyway.

Thanks again ledtone, and Merry Christmas to you and everyone else on this forum!

Like I said I tuned mine a little. With out a chrony I don't know if I did any good but it seems like it helped.I had to make a "compression fork" to disassemble and reassemble it.The fork is nothing more than a piece of 3/4 pipe with a grove cut into it.There is much room for smoothing out on these shooters. After the holidays I'll put together a tear down and "tune" guide for the model 25.After a lot of searches there dosen't seem to be much in the way of help for this model. As I understand it the latest recreation lacks considerable power compared to the "real" ones.

I'm giving myself a HW30s. Probably won't get here until after Christmas sometime if PY Air ever gets them in. And a scope and a hole bunch of pellets.

Got my Dad and my brother each a P17 and a trap for Christmas. Course, I don't get to see them very often, so they got them when I was home for Thanksgiving. My brother got so into it that he bought himself a Crosman 1377, too!

Joe-Joe,

Thanks for that very generous offer !!!!

I got so excited about shooting that old 25 again I was going to order one yesterday. My kids said Santa told them that I should calm down and wait a bit.  I think I know what that means !!!!:D
