I used to think.......
« on: December 28, 2009, 04:02:04 PM »
Well when I first started coming on these forums I used to think there was no way a .22 air gun could be as accurate at a .177. While my .177 gun is extremely accurate, the .22 guns can hold their own, especially at longer ranges and in the wind.

I also thought that a .177 couldn't "really" be used for hunting.  However, I found that because of the accuracy that head shots on game was quite possible and quite lethal!

I also never thought that an inexpensive gun could shoot as well as an expensive gun.  While that proved to be true with my Air Hawk, it isn't for the RWS 350 and TF 89 comparison.  Both are accurate and hit hard and the TF 89 is about a third of the price!

Who would have thought a trigger could make a Gamo gun able to put them in the same hole at 30 yards? The only excuse I can make with my Charlie Trigger and my Whisper is ME!

Anyway, thanks for all of the information this year.  I've really enjoyed being part of the GTA forums!

(I personally BLAME you all for getting me addicted to air guns!!!)   :D

What I've bought in 2009:

A Gamo Whisper, it now has a Leapers 3 x 9  AO scope on it and a Charlie Trigger.  It can punch a gnat's eyes out!

A RWS 350 with another Leapers Scope a 3 x 9 with rubberized padding, non-AO (my hunting gun)

A Ruger Air Hawk, tuned by Mike Melick, it has as Simmons 3 x 9 scope on it.  (I use it as a plinker gun.  It was a Cabelas refurb and is by far my most inaccurate gun, but because it is tuned the easiest to shoot and she likes cheap pellets)

A scope and mounts for my 1971 Sheridan Blue Streak.  It can still punch ragged holes in paper or knock a squirrel loopy!

Lastly, my wifey bought me a TF 89.  It currently has my Gamo 3x9 scope on it and nice one piece mount.

Just got back from my son in laws, He got a Red rider as a joke gift , Well they have a tree rat problem? liveing in the actic .
So he shot one with the BB gun ! hit it in the back from 15ft & it now is parlized in the back legs. and now pulls it's self up the trees !!
& drags it self along the ground, Sad! I wanted to drive the 90+ miles back & get my Quest and do the job right?

But the Quest! it is very hold sinitive ! & I would make things worse for the guy?? like that off his noise? or one front leg?
just takes allot of shootin to get good ! just my 2 cent's come guns are just inaccurate, the Quest is one, the TF97 is #2,
Like I just got my TF97 22cal with a super tune ****!! &$$.$$ in the hole again***, it's just a can shooter at best! & at 10ft the best group is 2"..
So now I'm hoping the home tune I did on the AK-47 will be better,

But they say it's 80% shooter /20% gun??
or somthing like that?

Unfortunate perhaps, - but put a second BB/pellet into a better location, and end it.

Danger, Will Robinson!!!! He really doesn't want to be sticking a gun barrel (even BB gun) out of an apartment window. Someone sees that and, next thing you know, the SWAT guys are surrounding the place. Especially these days. And better check the local ordinances, too. He should tell the landlord that the next call will be to the health department. Bet that will light a fire under the guy's tush.
