Christmas Quest
« on: January 01, 2010, 12:03:46 PM »
Christmas was a Crosman 800 Quest. I took it down, did a de bur, clean up, added a GRT III trigger and did a lube tune. it's all back together now and I have around 100 rounds through the gun now and it's starting to settle in and tighten up the groups. I don't have a chrony but it seems to have a good amount of power. It punched through a 3/8th piece of plywood. I think this will be one of my favorites. Good looks, light weight and power. Just a note about the Gold trigger. The Quest unfortunately came with the new improved trigger. Not really. Anyway the Gold trigger will go in and doe's its usual great job of improving the trigger pull but before you do this be aware you will lose the use of the safety. I am alright with this but you need to be extra careful without one.

Walt,

I installed the GRT in a "new improved trigger" Summit.  If your safety is not engaging, you may need to turn the first stage screw out very slightly until the safety engages correctly.

Nice gun.

The quest 800 was my first springer last year. I just put the gold trigger on it this year. It makes a world of difference.I like mine too.

Is that the screw in the trigger housing or the one in the trigger you backed out?

Its the hex screw towards the front of the trigger, (E) in the installation instructions and diagram : http://charliedatuna.com/airgun_docs/GRT-III%20trigger%20blade%20instructions.pdf

I have a Quest 800X, - great gun, you're gonna love it. And yes, the groups get tighter with use, a total tack driver. Good luck with it, .... BTW - I have a GRT-III trigger also, and the safety works just fine. If you go to Charlies site, it shows/explains how to fix any problem with the safety.

Walt....a big congrats on your Christmas gift.  Did you have to do alot of work to get the GRT III trigger into the "New and Improved" trigger assembly....is this the same one as the New Gamos'.  Seen a few photos of the new Gamo trigger assembly.....seems everything is sealed.

The trigger goes right in. I have put in a few others with no problems at all, this one required some adjustment for the safety to work correctly but in the end you get the super trigger with hardly any effort.

The new and improved trigger looks to be a "reshaped" trigger, the works are the same as the old, as far as I can tell.  It's nothing like the new Gamo trigger group with the clips.

Thanks Walt and Dave.  So I guess the "New and Improved" Crosman triggers are different than the "New and Improved" Gamo triggers.
