B26 Price
« on: January 03, 2010, 04:46:09 AM »
What price range does the B26 .22 or 177 fall into? Which would be the best recommendation for a friend who want to hunt with an ag? He has less than 240.00 to spare. He was looking at some gamos, but his love was the BSA Lightning.

yes, the b26 is around 160 dollars, and that leaves enough money for an excellent 3-9x32 leapers... great combo. the other option is a BSA lighting, which he can afford if he looks for a second hand rifle. I just got a supersport magnum .22 for 250... really nice condition...

The 26 and the 25 look good. Which is the best choice for comfort, accuracy and overall shooting pleasure?

I bought my B-26 about 2 months ago from a website named BESTAIRGUN.COM. They had a special on them for $139 and change. Delivered to my door it was right at $150.00. While I own many $1,000.00 + rifles I am not a gun snob. After all of the great reviews the B-26 was getting I decided to take the leap before spending the extra money for a R9. I am glad I did. The R9 is a great air rifle but it would have to take out the trash and mow my yard to be worth 3 times as much as the B-26. I own a RWS 34 made in 2002. It is a fine rifle and I paid $200.00 for it then. But I do prefer the B-26 to the RWS 34. Just a tad more power. Not as twangy. Not nearly as much barrel droop which forced me to use a droop mount for the RWS 34 when I scoped it...an additional $20 which could have been spent elsewhere. A rubber butt pad to help prevent slippage. I love my RWS 34 but if I had to pick one then it would be the B-26. I mounted a Leapers 3x9-32 scope on it that Pyramid Air had on special for $44.00 and I am good to go. The only complaint I had about the B-26 was the cheap plastic sights but since I was going to mount a scope on it anyway I guess I am just griping needlessly here. I have never owned a Ruger Airhawk so I cannot really comment on it.

the 26 is smoother than the 25, but the 25 hits harder. As far as the 34 shooting softer than the 26, open it and check the seal. I get a best of 920 with the 26 in .177 and CPLs, and my old 34 shoots them at 990+ all day. but the 26 is smoother and more comfortable to use... now, an R9 does not seem worth the money, until you sit down and look at it on your rack... almost feel like lighting up a cigar and brew some coffee, and just strike up a conversation with a classy woman, full of mistery and beautiful details... they really are special rifles... they dont just shoot, they..."shoot..."lol.

I love my .22  Diana 34!!! I can't believe I gave it to my Dad on 'extended loan'. With a proper tune, they are a sweet shooting rifle. Enough power at 30 yards to satisfy the most descriminant small game hunter. I can't say anything about the 26 since I've never shot them,...but I'd say they're probably an even draw on accuracy and power. Comfort to each individual shooter is a big differenciation. I used to want to add a rubber butt pad to my 34,...but later on down the road,...I found it wasn't nessecary for me. B-26/R-7,..or R-9?!?!,....Diana 34/B-25,....I doubt a well practiced and seasonned AR shooter will find anything 'superly out of balance' from either models. Best Wishes, tjk
