Well,I got laid off again 3 weeks ago,2nd time in 18 months. This stinks !!!
 I have been a Land Surveyor and Mapper for 23 years. This is the worst downturn I have ever seen.
 I use to work between 50 and 70 hours a week and now 0.Thank goodness I found the GTA,it really helps to get me through the day.
 I read an article that said 2/3rd's of the Land Surveying businesses have gone under in Florida,no wonder nobody has contacted me after sending out dozens of resumes. Sorry about the rant , but I just wanted to get it off my chest. GOD BLESS,SNOOKMAN

It was more like a Prayer ! And I will PRAY for You and Yours to see better days !!!!

It seems for some reason that this "recession" is only in places, and of course the whole building industry. It's a shame that the building unions didn't give lots of monies to the Politicians, that way they would have fixed the real estate situation, and left the auto industry go to the dogs.

Sure hope things take a turn for the better for you. I guess the surveying business is tied in to the real estate market? Let's hope things pick up in the spring.

Thank you gentlemen for your support and prayers,I really need it.
It kills me to take money from the government. Unemployment compensation only gives you a maximum of $275 a week and then they take taxes out on it ,that leaves only $248 a week. good luck living on that.
 I have been trying to find work in other fields, but I have been working at my trade for so long I cant find someone to give me a chance doing something else.
 I am thinking of leaving Florida to find work in another state,don't know yet. We will see. I have lived here my whole life so it's hard to think about.
 AT least I can go outside and shoot my air rifle and communicate with good people here at the GTA. THANK YOU,snookman

Hey Snookman, if you are drawing unemployment compensation your not taking money from the government. Unemployment compensation is something you and your employer have been paying into since you first started working. Employers consider the amount they pay toward Unemployment as part of your benifits package and it's something you deserve when you get layed off. At least that's the way I look at it. It's no different than getting your Social Security benifits when you retire. You have payed into both in one way or the other. Hang in there, keep your head up, things will get better.

chuckster is 100% correct you earned and deserve your unemployment i work in construction and in NY the unions are struggling i know how you feel hang in there we will survive

I agree also but it won't be too much longer and there won't be any money in SS or Unemployment. The future sure don't look good...at least right now.

 I have only been a member of this forum for 3 months,but I feel like I am around family .YOU GUYS ARE GREAT.
