Gamo Changes...
« on: January 07, 2010, 12:36:16 AM »
so with all the recent GAMO changes, who's glad they have an older model????  i know i am, i have an Untuned bone stock GAMO BC 1200, with stock trigger, and i absolutly love it, and its getting shipped off to be turbo'd and gold triggere'd...   i'm sure after Gene does his magic to it, i will love it that much more!  I keep debating on trading the ole girl in, and getting a .22 cal Disco or something, but... the fond memories..  that and .177 is just so much more fun to shoot.  and cheaper.

I'm certainly glad I have a few older GAMO's tucked away in the back of the gun safe :)

A couple of years ago Walmart was selling them off for dirt cheap and I picked up 2 extra Shadows. I didn't need them but for the price I couldn't pass them up.   They're both stock, except for the triggers :) and I never really shot them much.  They probably only have a couple of tins apiece run through them, then they just sat in the back of the gun safe resting.  I also have an 890 that I bought brand  new that is resting with the 2 Shadows. I never shot her much either but I'm glad I have her.    I had been  thinking about selling those 3 rifles because I never shoot them but now I think I'll hold onto em  :)

The first adult air rifle I bought when I got addicted to this sport a few years ago was a GAMO Shadow, which I still have and will never part with.  She has whacked more starlings than I can count.  She's been worked on a little and is a super fine shooter.  This spring, when the starlings return to the duck farm, she'll come out of hibernation and wreak havoc on the yellow beaks  :)

I'm also glad that I got my "older" .177 and .22 CFX's and my .22 Black Shadow.  The Black Shadow was my main squirrel gun for a couple of seasons and she's one heck of a hunter  :)

To bad GAMO changed their guns  :(  I think in the long run they'll realize they made a mistake when the sales start to drop off.

Jeff,

Lets hope that the bean counters don't win out. Over the years I've seen a few companies that "bottom lined" themselves right out of business and the mistakes were was so obvious I have to wonder what were they thinking. Is suicide-by-cheap a business plan taught in business schools ????

I love my old shadow 1000 and after installing Charliedatuna's wonderful trigger, stuffing the hollow stock with polyester fiberfill, and shooting about 1000+ shots, it is broken in and it is a fine shooter. Someday I will send it to Gene for a Turbo tune, but for getting trigger time in, it is great. It is my first adult air gun, and doing research on it is how I found the GTA. Good shooting, snookman

well, right now i'd love to get both, but $$$ calls.  if i make good on this deployment, a AF Condor might get a home in my gun rack... we shall see.  depends, if the tune works out well (which i know it will)  i may find i have no use for a second gun... i've always been a one woman guy... :-D

Wow, what a shame! What's GAMO's motive? Seems so counterproductive. I sure am glad I have an old BC with the gold trigger now. I might have to hit WalMart and see if there are any more old versions still out there.
