WTS Daisy Avanti 853, Daisy 953 (SOLD) and TF97 (SOLD)
« on: January 14, 2010, 11:36:01 AM »
The first is an Avanti 853 but I upgraded the stock with a 753 which I believe is the main difference between the two. Both have the same Lothar Walther barrels. It has the Pilkington trigger mod already done to it. The metal is near perfect (one chip on barrel) as I can see and the wood since it is new is almost perfect (one indent on cocking slot where the sling ring slid on the cocking lever and dinged the wood. I got rid of the sling ring and there is one minor pressure mark on the rightside of the stock about 3/4 long. You really have to look for it but wanted to be in full disclosure. I can probably steam it out). I'm going to sell it for $190 (shipped) which I believe is fair because I bought it for $187 and paid $50 for the stock. It has the 3 spacer inserts to customize LOP. I also have a new Bisley adjustable butt pad that I would sell to the buyer for $30. I think the street price is more like $50+. If you've never seen one they are the bomb. Metal base plates unlike the plastic ones on the Morgan pads. I included a picture of one I fitted on my Avanti 888.

I also have a Daisy 953 which is the spitting image of the 753 only in synthetic stock. I bought this one because I loved the 753 so much. Shot it about 30 times and it has been sitting in its box. I bought extra clips so there are about 10 of them. This one has fiber optic sights which are pretty good. Hits harder than the 753 too. IIRC about 100 fps faster at about 550fps. Apperture sights are more accurate so it is hard to tell but I don't believe this rifle is any less accurate than the Lothar Walther barrels. People love this rifle and it is easy to see why. They are awesome shooters. I'll sell this for $70 shipped. So its like buying the new rifle from Pyramyd but getting free shipping and extra mags. No pictures because it is basically new in box.

Both are extremely accurate and quiet rifles that are quiet since they are SSPs. Both shoot any wadcutter very well although I believe a slight edge to RWS Basics, Gamo Match and Avanti Match (but these are expensive).

I'm also going to sell a TF97 in .22. Also a great basement rifle because it is very easy to cock and very accurage with the right pellet. Seems to love the TF domed pellets. Actually this summer from 20 yards this was my killer rifle on the Gamo knockdown squirrel. Very natural point of aim and a much heavier rifle than the others but very balanced. Shoots 14.7gr at about 570 fps.  It currently has a 3-9x32 IR Leapers Bugbuster with leapers offset mount (paid about $85 including one piece mount). I did do a lube tune on this one. I can't find the rear sight so you'll have to stick with the scope but this is the perfect scope for this rifle as it clears the loading port just right.  $110 shipped.

I just updated the post.  Ran downstairs to shoot a few groups.  I rushed them and got lazy on the last set because IIRC the TF Domes are this rifle's favorite pellets.  Guess I should shoot the H&N more often!  These are 5 shot groups and while not the best are pretty indicative of the accuracy of this rifle.  Now seeing the H&N group and shooting this again, I'm regretting putting this up for sale.  If you want it hurry because I might pull a Dano and change my mind.  LOL

P.S.  Don't be alarmed by the crappy groups on the targets in the background.  LOL  The ones on the left were from a "Marla" or FEG Telly that was sitting in some guy's garage for 40 years and the ones on the right are from the Slavia 634 I was trying to scope.  Did you know the Slavia has a 13mm dovetail.  Crap that was fun!
