TF 89 in .177

I've been shooting my TF 89 a LOT today.  It was the first time it has been warm in weeks!  Mine is a .22 caliber gun.  I'm actually pondering buying another one in .177.  Does anyone have one and how is it?  

Just FYI it has less than a 500 shots through her, and she is DEADLY accurate!  I've learned so many lessons on the forum about how to prep one by cleaning the barrel and tightening everything up.

It is just wild that you can spend what isn't a huge amount of money on a gun that is really good!

Get a Titan from Hammerli. It is the same gun all the way down to the sites. Sportsmans guide had them refurbed for $70 with scope. Tuned mine. Man what a good gun.

I have the TF89 .177 and the .22, and I also have a Walther Force 1000 -- same gun, different stock. In fact there are quite a few different AR1000 variants sold by different manufacturers.

I had both my TF89s tuned by Gene. They started out nice shooters, but when I got them back they were super. I'd put them side-by-side with $400-$500 guns, which I own. And I got mine for $149 and $119. The Walther was $69 with shipping included. So, all told, if you shop smart, you can get an AR1000 .177 refurb with a tune for $250. It'll outshoot any gun at $200 more...except the TF89 .22, which I happen to prefer. Unless you happen to find a tuned Cometa Fusion Star for that ;-)

Thanks for the information folks.  I'll keep looking in "Bargain Gate" to see if anyone has them on special.  I can afford them, I"m just cheap!    

Today I was in a shooting contest with another airgunner and a guy shooting a .22 rimfire.  All of us had scopes, but mine were better.  We were shooting at shotgun shells at about 25 plus yards.  The first match I dusted them with my Whisper.  The next match I was in the lead with m TF89 until the rimfire guy hit the 5 pt bonus target-a 9mm casing!  We even found it with the dent from his bullet! Good times, good times.

What would be another AR1000?  The Beeman R-2?

The Walthar is an AR1000, yes. I got it for $69 from Sportsmansguide.com when they were running a special on refurbs. Came with a scope that I sold for about $10, so really the rifle cost even less. But there are a lot of AR1000 variants, and they seem to keep improving year-to-year. I should have bought two in hindsight, but then I'm amassing more guns than I can really shoot! Keep an eye out and you'll find a good buy. e.g., Lerchy saw the Hammerli Titan, which is another AR1000.

I just like my TF 89 so much better than my Air Hawk.  I can get rid of the Air Hawk for a few $$ and just replace it with the 89.

that is a good deal...depending on the scope it could be even better. The Walther scope I got was actually pretty good!

I thought it was an excellent price!  I've ordered one from Compasseco before so I have a coupon from them.  They sent me a 15% off discount.  However it would still at least $50 more expensive than that deal.  Do you think it is the exact same gun and quality?  

After searching around a bit, you can find them at about $120 if you look hard.  Most of the time though that model with a scope runs about $159!  I hope they have it in stock and I get it quickly (AND BEFORE MY WIFE GETS HOME).

the walther I got was slightly lesser than the newest TF89, but that was partly the stock and partly the AR1000 version. There is an AR1000FC, and then there are three lesser versions C, F and plain AR1000. I believe the internal parts are all the same... the versions refer to differences in the stock and sights. My Walther matches my TF89...but yet will need a tune to be fair. But that is to take nothing from its performance out of the box -- only to say I have my TF89s tuned. I think it will be just as good performance-wise. the stock and sights will be the only question.

WHICH gun you talking about being a good deal on that page? Wasn't sure. I DID find a RWS (Mendoza) RM600 dual caliber for $69 + $12 shipping. Thinking of getting it for tune practice just to see what I can do to it. Doesn't come with a scope though. Always looking for a good bargain to experiment with. This one is on Umarex site.
