Gamo 640 power plant
« on: January 16, 2010, 01:47:45 AM »
Is the 640 the same gun as the 1000 but with a softer spring? While I haven't handled one, they appear to be the same stock, etc.

Bump! Thought this was answered but see it wasn't. Must not be a popular gun. Is this like the Shadow 1000 with a lower power or more like the Delta in a better stock?

Are these so rare that no one has owned one?

They look similar but the 640 and Delta type guns are considered youth guns or somethimes ladies guns and have a much smaller power plant.

Yup the 640 has a cocking effort of around 26lbs, Delta 21lbs. Mid range Gamo's around 30-38lbs cocking effort. A smaller power plant in the youth shooter's. Ed

Thanks. Had a Delta (AKA Daisy 1170?). Not bad but was it Twangy!!! The 640 (I'm assuming that is with PBA's) sounds a tad stronger. And not all lower powered guns are youth or ladies' models. I finally picked up a Diana 24. I recall one lingering on the back wall of a local family hardware store, NIB, for about $125. I would see it and think, "Man, bet that is a cheap, bottom of the line gun." Don't think so now. Of course, the 640 is probably not quite as nice. And, yeah, that 24 is long gone.
