Need help with old Gamo Cal55 (.22) scope mount
« on: January 17, 2010, 04:34:15 PM »
My friend has a Gamo Cal55 .22 caliber air rifle and I have put my whisper 1piece scope mount and scope on there but I can not bring the sight down far enough. I have tried shimming between the mount and scope but it is still not enough. Is there a different mount that I can fit on there to make it work?

For the scopes that requires adjusting for elevation and windage, I use the Sportsmatch AOP55. It's sold here in the states by Beeman, model 5039. You can get the sports match at Airguns of Arizona. It is a little pricey, but it works. I have it on two my airguns for the Bushnell Legends.

You can get them at straightshooters too.

I was looking for something around the $20 range. If this won't be possible then I'm taking my scope and mount back and he can go try a laser sight.

UTG makes a droop mount for Diana's. I'm not familiar with the Gamo Cal55, but I'm sure this droop mount can be modified (probably have to trim the scope stop in the front) and that might make it work for you. Just a suggestion, only because I was planning on doing that to one of my Diana droop compensator mounts to use on one of my gamos. It's a cheaper way to go, that's for sure.

Here are the links to them:

That mount would work but I would have to chop off that shock shoulder and then add a set of rings. Cheaper than the Beeman/Sportsmatch option. What's the difference between that one and this one: http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/UTG_Scope_Mount_Base_Fits_RWS_Diana_Rifles_Gamo_Whisper_Others/2639

That's the mount I put on my Whisper.

I believe that's just a base and not a droop compensator, so all it does is converts your dove tail rail to the picatinny/weaver rail. The other two actually is for droop compensation.
