SOCOM Extreme
« on: January 19, 2010, 08:20:13 AM »
Hey everyone.!!
I finally got my SOCOM Extreme sighted in the other day and WOW is all I can say.  I love this rifle!  Sure it is a bit loud...but hey...its accurate as heck!  Got it sighted in dead on at 50.. 2 inches  high at 75.  She really likes the GAMO armor piercing rounds...but thats all I have tried thus far.  I'll get some more ammo trials going and keep the thread up to date.  Good shooting and stay safe!   Joel

Sounds great jeronimo! Those particular shooters always fascinated me. Probably ever since I got Pyramyd-Air's "Air Gun Times" December issue, I've been drawn in to the Socom series from GAMO. A bit high on the price tag, but what can I say. It's a new "RE" everything model, so I guess that's fair. The stocks look to be very nicely made and comfortable. However, I'm assuming that the trigger is the classic GAMO theoben style. However that being said, since the Socom series is new. Then it's almost safe to say that most of all of the current production of GAMO rifles incorporate the new style GAMO plastic trigger assembly. Probably anything after December/Early Febuary has them. According to the GAMO representative.

Joel, glad you like that rifle. I believe the Socom is exactly the same as the Hunter Extreme but with a better stock. Those wood stocks on those models are extra beefy and the Socom stock looks like the ticket for a more comfortable ride.I hope eventually the Gamo website will list the Socom stock as an available replacement stock. They'd sell a few to all the 1250 and Extreme owners out there. By the way I always liked Crossman Premier 10.5gr pellets in my 1250 and Extreme. Pellet of choice IMO. You will have to likely clean the barrel a little more frequently with this model though 'cos it shoots everything fast.Smart move on that GRT111 trigger.Only way to go. Some folks grow weary fast when shooting these rifles and give them a bad rap that they don't deserve. It may be a young mans rifle because it's heavy and is hard to cock but the rifle with the Gold trigger can be a real good shooter and a deadly hunter.Enjoy it often.By the way, does your rifle have an integral raised scope rail or just grooves cut into the receiver?
