Squirrel Gravy And BBQ
« on: January 19, 2010, 03:03:43 PM »

I know I am not Randal but I thought I would share my meal with you tonight.

I took my two squirrels and soaked them in salt water for 24 hours. After that, we cooked them in a crock pot for about 5 hours. I am telling you, the meat just falls right off the bone at that point. I took the meat and chopped it up. 1/3 went into a pepper gravy for some SOS and the other 2/3 was mixed with some Jack Daniels BBQ sauce and placed in the oven for another 15 minutes. Made some toast for the SOS and put the BBQ on a bun topped with Texas Pete.

My sons Loved both dishes. My wife refused to eat it but when she tasted the BBQ rat, she said it was great.
Gotta Go, time to eat.

I LOVE pepper gravy. My wife makes the best chicken fried steak and gravy. Not sure she would prep a squirrel though.

I took alot of ribbing about liking SOS, but all that meant was I never had to worry about there being a shortage of it if I got to chow late.

The ex hated it and for 25 years of marrage refused to cook it. And now, the girlfriend doesn't care for it either, so I haven't had a real pepper gravy SOS  since 1977.    :0

Paul, RECIPE PLEASE !!!!!!!!!

For the gravy, first go to the grocery store and get a pack of gravy. Second, get a pot and two cups of boiling water.
Add the gravy to boiling water and stir to desired thickness and remove from heat.
This is the best gravy I have found. I don't have to wory about making a mess to make the gravy. Its premixed and less hassle.
