"The new Beeman cannot put its name on a BAM20 and pass it off as an R9. No way. Even if they tried, all of the air gun forums would laugh them off the planet. Not that a BAM20 isn't good. Just that would be illegal for one, and foolish for another."
Umm, yeahhhh..... I can hear it now......
Looks like an R-9, got the Beeman name on it, Beeman makes really good guns right? Must be the same thing?
The majority of the airgun buyers out there won't know the difference until its too late. Its no different than Turkish made Webleys, or Walthers and Remingtons made in China. Brand recognition will be used to dupe unknowing buyers into purchasing inferior products. Its being done right now and it will only get worse.
As for illegal, since when did the Chinese give a crap about American laws concerning copyrights, patents, etc. Every one of those German and English clones are unlicensed copies, isn't that illegal? And what about those Techforce guns with a cheap copy of the Rekord trigger? Are they legally producedcopies? I doubt it.
