Gamo CFX Royal
« on: January 20, 2010, 06:33:13 AM »
Okay, the Gamo CFX Royal (wood stock) in .22 cal. that I ordered from Pyramyd Air arrived today.  It has the metal trigger.  Now I just have to find the GRT-III trigger I misplaced.  I'm hoping the CFX with synthetic stock I ordered from Airgun Depot also has the metal trigger.  That comes next Monday.

Good news on the CFX Royal trigger. I hope the synthetic model from Air Gun Depot will be a metal trigger as well. I will order the synthetic stock version because, I prefer the plastic on the CFX. However, I certainly will order the CFX Royal version if necessary. Let us know how your new CFX Royal shoots.

I already have a CFX in .177 with the GRT-III trigger, gas ram and Maccari Tesla piston seal upgrades, and it shoots like a dream.  I can only imagine that the Royal will shoot the same once I get the ram and seal upgraded too.  However, before any of the upgrades were installed, my CFX in .177 was shooting 1/4" groups at 33 yards, but I haven't tried shooting groups yet with the upgrades.  I do that at the indoor range where there's no wind and I haven't had time to get myself there.

What do you want to bet PA is closing out their old stock of Royals? Hence the $100 price cut. What year was your's produced? I think it's the first two digits in the s/n, as in 05.

The first two digits are 04 and the last two digits are 09.  When did the PBA pellets first come out, because on the receiver, it's printed on there that it's 900 fps with PBA and 750 fps with lead.

It looks like the PBA Raptors came out in 2006, so my CFX could not have been made in 2004: http://air-guns-pneumatic-pnews.blogspot.com/2006/03/gamos-new-raptor-hunting-pellet.html  My CFX might be a 2009 model then.  Can we conclude then that the 2010 Gamos will have the plastic triggers?

How long since your CFX was made and the sticker applied? Might be like the old Winchester 52 .22 target rifle. They used to produce the receivers and then assemble the gun, sometimes a couple of years later, depending upon demand. Anyway, let's be thankful we have the good triggers.

It's not a sticker on my CFX Royal.  It's printed on with their gold ink.

I just fiddled with my Royal and the s/n starts 04 and ends in 06. Gene said he bought the rifle about three years ago, so I'm guessing it is 2006 production. That would make yours some time in 2009. I forgot to look for the PBA blurb but I'm thinking my gun does not have anything on it, sticker or painted.
