Brown Santa brought me a Titan today!
« on: January 21, 2010, 12:04:41 PM »

Having shot my TF 89 .22 I decided I wanted one in .177.  After reading the forum I found out that there are many different names for the same gun!  So I got online and looked around a bit and found one WITH a 4x scope for only $88. Since that was almost half of what my 89 cost, I was rather pleased.  Instead of a TF 89, I got a:

Hammerli Titan Air Rifle COMBO .177 cal., with 4x32 Scope, mounts, adjustable sights & muzzlebrake. Rated at 1000 fps, Genuine Hardwood Stock, Auto Safety, Rubber Recoil Pad. Made in China under license, imported and warranted by Umare xUSA!

It came double boxed and without a scratch on it. I decided to fire it just to see if it worked and it scared me! The crack was SO loud. Knowing better, I cleaned the barrel until it was spotless. THEN I loaded it again and started shooting some CPHPs. I was shocked when it was nearly dead on. In a couple of minutes I was plinking cans out to 35 yards with the open sights.

It came with a little 4x scope. Since I had another scope on the way from OpticsPlanet, I put the 4x on my old Daisy pump gun.

There are some small differences between the Titan and the TF 89. The TF 89 has a little nicer stock. It also has better open sights, but the ones on this gun aren't horrible. The trigger is the same except the Titan's trigger is black instead of silver. Though the scope isn't all that good it wasn't too bad either. My wifey paid about $135 for the 89 without a scope. Getting a deal for only $88 was fantastic. I just checked their website and they've sold out. I must have gotten the last one.

They say out of stock now.  Pushed the button on Sunday and was shooting it by lunch today. I found another place that had them for around a $100, but I can't remember where.

Wish there were some more for my shooting friends!  Honestly,  with all the coupons I get from Compasseco they give a pretty good deal.  The TF 89 has the nicer stock by far.  After shooting them I think these things are almost "semi-magnums".  They seem to hit a little harder than my Whisper and my Air Hawk.  My 350 cocks better, is prettier, and has a better trigger, but for what I paid for it, I could have bought two guns and had them tuned by Gene :)

My next door neighbor bought a .177 titan a while back  and the gun is a real power house.  He's not the best shot with it but he's getting better.  The "Sports Authority" by us was selling them for around $90 bucks with the 4x32 scope.  I had just gotten my TF-89 in .22 and  while shooting in my backyard range one day my neighbor came over and told me he was looking to get an adult air rifle and asked for a recommendation.  He didn't want to spend a lot of money but wanted something to help him rid his yard of  nutters and chipmunks.  I told him to get the Titan and he did.  I'm sorry I didn't buy one myself.  Shortly after that  the local Sports Authority stopped carrying them  :(

ARRRGH!  I think the thing to learn is to NOT be in the market for one, but to save a $100 or so so that when you see one you can get it :)

They're accurate powerful air rifles....just abit heavy.  Well, I guess if they weren't that heavy....the torque would be worse heh heh.  Needs a tune or shoot it alot to tame it down.  Other than the PCP's....she's the most powerful springer I've got.

According to thebookdoc, there are a lot of these guns disguised with other brands and stocks.  He has a Walther that has the same action. I actually did a search for AR 1000 and found some on a New Zealand website.

Randy,   nice looking shooter.    After you have shot the crap out of it for awhile....how about posting your impressions.  Cover as many angles as practical.

Enjoy.

Good bargin hunting.
