Boiling Water, boiling Piston Seals / hot Tea.
« on: January 26, 2010, 09:32:13 AM »
Despite the cold today,  I decided to tear down a AG and do a full tune on it, seals, deburring , the works. I prefer to work outside.

Anyway I took the old piston seal off and had to put the new one in hot water to soften it enough to put it on the piston.  All went well but I left the pot with the water on the stove.  Just after I got the seal on,  my oldest son dropped by while I was in the yard.   He walked out the back door with a cup of hot tea and I asked where he got the tea from.   He said he made it with the  hot water on the stove.   Well, I told him,  that water had been used to boil a piston seal to soften it up.    He asked if I thought it would hurt, poison wise.   I said,  Don't know but we will find out.

Anyway that was a couple of hours ago, and I quess he is still alive.  Somewhere.

I guess the kids will never learn to ask first.   They ought to know by now.
