TF89 springs

I can't remember but somebody here had gave some number's for JM replacement or the type of spring that can be used from JM that work in the AR1000 gun's Can somebody tell me what spring I'm looking for?

Would have to verify this evening when I can actually hold the replacement in my hands to compare. But I'm almost positive this one works. You can always drop James an email and ask. He can probably tell you for sure.

Email response from JM about the E9870 fitting the AR1000 series guns...

"People say it does but as my website indicates, I no longer buy these types of guns to look at."

I'll double check mine tonight to verify and let you know for sure.

I used a E9870 spring in my TF89 fits and functions fine I did tighten up the fit on the spring guide with shrink tubing.

Why are you going to replace the spring is it broken? Are you going to replace the spring as well?

I'm getting ready to do some real tuning on these rifles of mine and have noticed over the time I've been shooting them the factory spring's  are inconstant, example One rifle may shoot 1034fps another may shoot 980fps same caliber! so I know thier are alot of inconsatancies from gun to gun an part to part remember these are Chinese gun's and thier QC is not perfect from run to run on anything especialy airgun's, and we all know these gun's need work on them. I've already done alot of work on the ones I have and now I'm gonna take them a step further in the tuning process and I'm looking at part's from JM and Vortek and other's to see what I can come up with to improve what I have in my TF89 or AR1000 type rifles, none of them have factory barrel's on them all are Lothar Walther barrel's and yes I know these gun's to some are not worth putting this kinda time or money into as I'm doing but they do make exelent field gun's  powerfull and very accurate with these barrel's on them, and this keep's my HW's an Beeman's from the I'll's of my outdoor adventure's, I'm open to any suggestion's from anyone on piston seal's [etc] to make these gun's the best they can be for some long term use between tune's! I like these gun's yes thier crude but can be turned into nice field gun's for not a whole lot of money, ya gotta keep'em tuned so why not put the best sfuff in there as possible and do what ya can to make it the best it can be!

I understand where you're coming from and what you want to see from your guns. And yes, you can spend more money on a higher class gun than the AR1000 line. One of the things you pay for with these guns is the attention to detail in assembling and the quality of the parts used. But nothing beats doing it yourself and shooting the end product. There's just a certain pride that comes fromturning a so-so gun into a real dream shooter that stacks pellets.

I contacted Vortek and they do not have any kits for the AR1000's, Benjamin Super Streak or the PL1K guns yet but plan on releasing some in the near future. As far as seals, you have a couple of choices. You can order the factory seals from Compasseco or build an adapter to mount a JM seal. I just replaced mine with a factory seal. I may buy a spare piston to experiment with but mine is cranking out 800's with .22 CPHP rounds so I'm happy with that. It's not a tack driver, it's a nail driver.

A tune/lube will definately help these become better shooters. I did a home tune before sending mine to Gene for him to work his magic. Now I just need time and weather to get outside to get acquainted with it. Tell me more about the Lothar Walther barrels. I've heard folks say they got these but just how much are they, what was the process of swapping them and where do we get them.

I've spoke to Tom Gore at Vortek several time's about a kit for the AR1000 rifle's and he has made them for the gun's he's just waiting on Compasseco's approval  on them to run full bore on them! He's supose to send me a kit to try for him and if I like it of corse I'll have to pay for it! so you know your gonna get an honest opinion on the kit from me anyway and if it's like the  kit I put in my HW50's it gonna make alot of people happy and alot of people sad cause thier that good!

The spring on my .22 TF-89 recently broke after 5,000+ shots.  I took it to Darrell's Airguns in Portland and he said he would use a Beeman spring.  It does seem a little harder to cock.   It was shooting 840fps with 14.3g pellets in the summer and 780fps near freezing.  After the new spring/lube it chrono'd at 825fps average with the 14.3g pellets right above freezing!!!!  I expect it to be 860-870fps in the summer now.

If anyone really wants to know, I could call Darrell and find out exactly what spring he used.

you don't happen to know which Beeman or HW spring he put in there do you ? if not do you think you can find out?
