* * * Do you have problem with your NEIGHBORS too....???
« on: February 04, 2010, 03:50:27 AM »
WELL.... now I must to stop shooting in my yard to avoid more problems.

An small pellet fragment hitted in the back of my neighbord 6 years old girl in their yard that is located to one side of my house.

I do not know where she was but..... that happens.

You know what does that means. Problem.  We do not have airguns rectriction in Puerto Rico but a issue like that is another story.

I will have to go to a range some days.... NO more frecuently airguns practice.

Well it just was that and it was nothing worst!!!

ANYONE OF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A NEIGHBOR TOO???

DO YOU HAVE TO STOP SHOOTING PRACTICE IN YOUR YARD???

Geraldo, that's definitely BAD news. I'm glad the little girl is Ok.
It's not going to be as fun as it was shooting in your own back yard :(  I hope it all works out for you.
I live in an apartment, so I don't have the luxury of shooting outside. I am saving whatever money I have ( after buying Airguns)to buy or rent a house so I can shoot outside. :)

Sounds like bad news. I don't know how big your yard is, but you might consider buying or building a small shed to put your pellet trap in. If there is a pellet fragment that gets loose, it could not leave the interior of the shed. I hope you can work it out. Good luck, snookman

Gerald,   it is regretful that  this unfortunate incidence  happened.   Thankfully, the child was not injured seriously for your sake and the child's.

Sorry to hear about that.  In this case your neigbour is NOT a problem!!!!   They could've called the police immediately and maybe your airgun/arsenal could be confiscated and you end up with a record!!!!  Maybe they gave you a warning?......At least that's better than if they did the former.  Anyways, thank goodness the little girl didn't get hurt bad.
That's why alot of cities don't allow any projectile shooting devices.....slingshot, bow and arrow, blowguns etc.  Take care and SHOOT SAFE

Had a problem not too much with the neighbors, but with the police...And now I shoot in the basement or garage. Will be getting out to a range in the spring...

But shooting so fragments spray around -- you may want to be more careful with your traps and targets. Double up if you have to!

Safety is paramount with airguns and I'm relieved that it wasn't worse. I have a habit of making sure that all angles are covered when shooting into a trap or target's but pellet's still have a mind of their own so to speak. Even when I'm hunting in the wood's I always look well past my game in case of a miss, never know who's lurking out there other then me. :o  :) Ed

Ed, thanks for bringing up one of the cardinal rules of hunting. Always be sure of your background when taking a shot, be it air guns, firearms or archery. Not long ago some college students were in a woods adjacent to their school for a project and a girl was killed by a hunter's stray shot. (Also hit a boy in the hand - and the shooter was hunting illegally, to boot.)
