The wife left bright and early this morning going to Kansas. The boy wouldn't go back to sleep so I got ready for my hunting adventures while she is gone! I got some new tapes for my camera so I loaded it up. Also I put the tripod out on the deck so I could take pictures tonight. When I got outside I noticed a nutter playing in the bottoms! In fact it was right next to my game camera.
There he is on the log!
Anyway, I eased back inside and got the 350 right next to the door. I have a pellet holder on it now after my experience in Kansas fumbling for the next round. Here she is posing with snow coming down this morning. I'd give her a "10".

The nutter was about 35 yards away. I have a string for a range finder now, but I'm going to get a laser. I've put some logs and stuff at intervals so I know how far I'm shooting. Speaking of shooting, here is a picture from my new hide! You can actually see the rear of it in the 350 picture. It is just under the barrel of the gun. I put a floor down so my shooting stool won't sink in the mud.
Here is a picture of the same area from my new perch. The line show the most common game trails. Sometimes the squirrels come from under the log through some brush on that side. You can just see a couple of bricks on the right that is where the log is held up and they use it as a rapid retreat area. At the end of the log there are some small logs there. That is where I've been dumping the rest of the fall acorns so they don't rot on the ground. Some sort of grubs or maggots have infested them, so now they are more bird feed than anything else.
The bad news is I was so busy aiming and not wanting him to get away I FORGOT to turn on the video camera! The GOOD news is that I drilled him from the deck! I pulled a Predator out of the pellet holder and used the deck rail for a rest. At first he went down without moving and then about 5 seconds later he rolled around and ended up right on the game trail area. I didn't hit him in the head but blew a hole through his neck. You can see the exit wound from the Predator. For some reason I'm a lot more calm shooting nutters than those big possums and raccoons!
Today it is snowing like crazy. I fully expect schools to let out soon. While I was down there I pulled some pictures off the Game Camera. Tonight it is getting a new SD memory card for some NIGHT VIDEO! I can't wait to see it. Last night it was the final night home with the wife so I didn't shoot, but I did get a couple of good ones on the Game Camera.
For someone who asked about the date and time, you can see it on the bottom right of the picture. I didn't hear the dinger go off, but you can plainly see the light illuminated on it! I'm going to check the batteries!
Here is a nice possum. He is almost white! Normally they look orange here if they've been slogging through the culvert so this one must be from somewhere else. I'm full convinced there are dozens of these things nearby.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures and story! I've got the video camera, the Game Camera, and the still camera all ready for tonight!
