Bordering on the R&P here. There's no mention of a link to gun control in the written part (didn't play it.) The rabbit problem there is certainly nothing new. Even before their gun control.

What I'm hinting at is that the Aussie govt' confiscated their citizens firearms (Don't know about the rural areas though) back in the 80's....and some wildlife are just breeding like crazy.  Used to be more hunters or farmers with firearms so they controlled the population.  The govt' is/are using "scientific" means to try to control their growth.....like poison, trapping and trying to make them infertile etc....obviously not a success.
