Before I take the Titan apart again and cause a mess
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:18:24 AM »
Guys,

You've helped me a lot on this thing.  Here are some issues I need some help.

1) The safety keeps slipping back on

2) the trigger kinda feel "loose" like it will wiggle back and forth

3) It won't group at all.  I suspect that I've overlubricated it because it smokes.  I also suspect the lubrication is going down the barrel causing a loss of accuracy.

So before I take it apart, what can I do about the trigger?

Can I just wipe off any excess lubricant?

How would I tell if the seal is busted?

Someone mentioned polishing the ends of the spring.  How do you do that?

If your safey and trigger are wiggly, you need to squeeze the side place close. That should fix it. I had same problem with my RS2 which is similar with Titan and fixed it. I even took the plastic washer I place in between the trigger for sideplay. Just debur it and use moly on contact points. Try this trigger tuning >> http://webpages.charter.net/guru1/documents/RSE%20Airguns%20-%20Beeman%20RS2%20trigger%20guide.pdf  You can visual the seal for roundness and see if you have cuts or burn mark on it. before you slip the piston back in, make sure you clean the inside chamber especially the back of the porthole with rag and alcohol. Those lube remnants in there is usually the source of detonation or smoking. For the spring, you just need to remove any sharp edges at the end coil of the spring.

What do I remove the sharp edges with?

My new scope mount is a capital FAIL!  I can't keep it on either.  I have a multibolt mount on my Whisper, but is shoots so well with that scope and stuff that I don't want to take it off.  darn :(

For the spring, I just use my small files I got from Harbor Freight, I thinks it's called jewelers file and finish it off with a honing stone I use to sharpen my knives. I started using a single scope mount with 4 screws to handle recoil, after I did tuning on her..she's much more gentle and quiet and now using regular medium scope ring and not even using scope stop.  I got my single mount from eBay and looks like this >> http://cgi.ebay.com/New-25mm-Double-Scope-Ring-Mount-4-dovetail-11mm-MS411_W0QQitemZ180442672534QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a0338ad96

Okay, I took it apart today.  The accuracy problem is a chip out of the seal.

I'm going to try an 89 seal on it. I think they are the same.  They are snowed in in Bardstown, so I can't order until tomorrow.

Okay, my little mistake cost me 20% of what I paid for the gun!  $16 for the seal shipped!
