Stick to the Marauder, you won't regret it. Sure for $420 you can get a nice german springer and all, but it's hard to beat the M-rod features and accuracy.

EDIT: If you feel you have too many Cromans, sell your other ones!

Get a Marauder! They are an excellent all around rifle.

It was my 1st PCP rifle and I love it! Very accurate, hard hitting... quiet!

My 2 cents.

Get the Marauder, you won't be sorry.   AOA and Straight Shooters are both selling the M-Rod right now for $399 and you can't beat 399 bucks for a rifle with so many great features as the MRod.   Complete that Crosman collection and go for the MRod   :)

A nice German springer. You can buy new or used. I too, like the Beeman rifles. The bluing is top notch along w/ the checkering and lets not forget accuracy.

I would buy a rws diana 350 feuerkraft and a decent leapers 3-9x32... in .22 is  going to be a great hunter and a very accurate rifle, and all for about 400 bucks. If power is secondary to accuracy or finish, you can't beat a HW 30. and you'll have money for a very good scope...

If I had it to do over with what I know now, my first shooter would of been a Beeman R-9 springer. My first PCP would of been a Disco or Maurader.

Iwould go for a B26 or a B40 either caliber would be fine, paper punching or hunting. Two nice AG's well made and accurate between 10m to 40m 3/8inch to 3/4inch groups would not be a problem. Heck with $400.00 you might be able to buy both.....Shoot Safe and Enjoy.....Bill

Hope this isnt too late but If your looking for a good gun theat shoots straight (with the right pellets) I love my Gamo Hunter with the gas piston. I put a leapers Tactedge scope and GRT 3 trigger on it and I cannot say enough. It shoot through milk jug of water at 35 ft hard enough to leave dents in the 2 x 8 that I put behind the target. I can hit 1/2 in groups at 30 yds and hit small steel out to 60. This is an absolutely awesome gun and I have about 360 invested in it. I cant wait to shoot it again this weekend to see wht kind shots I can pull off. I highly recommend it adn cant honestly find anything bad to say about it.

Spark,

I have bought most of my air rifle used: from Minn, Indiana, Washington State, Ohio, Wisconsin, New Mexico Arizona, and a few places I am sure I have forgotten about .I didn't have a chance to look at a one of them, other than e-mailed pictures. But, I did call and talk to the owner of each gun , before I bought the gun. There is not a one I would send back. I also talked to a few guys with rifles and decided to pass. Take the time to learn about the man (or Woman) and you'll learn about the gun. If I only had $400 to buy an air rifle it would really depend on what I had but odds are I would buy through the classifieds here or elsewhere. If an HW-77 is what you're looking for, take your time, check the adds day and night and talk to the guy.In fact,I was thinking just today that I might know where there is a used but unabused HW-77 I might talk to a guy about. Good luck.

Would look at the Evanix Renegade from PyramydAir. Lots of power and it looks good too.
