Gamo Shadow Replacement Spring
« on: February 14, 2010, 04:41:37 AM »
I believe that the spring in my Gamo Shadow broke.
I have put something north of 3,000 pellets through it.
The rifle will no longer cock.
Where does one buy a new spring or other parts?

One other question, any opinions on how many pellets can be shot through a barrel until it is worn out?

Thanks for your assistance.

Here ya go.....................

Everything you'll need can be found here.  I've used the E3650 spring and had excellent results, it's a drop in replacement.  I believe you can also use the tarantula spring, but I have no experience with that spring.....

Here's the link for the spring......

Thanks Jeff,
Very helpful.
Is there any guide to what parts go into a Gamo?

Exploded view of a GAMO Shadow internals are available in the "Library" section of GTA I believe as well as other places online, however let me ask.... are you positive that the spring is broken ??  There are other things that might prevent your rifle from cocking.  Have you taken the rifle apart yet?  If you haven't perhaps you should, provided you have a good spring compressor which is a crucial piece of equipment.  As for tuning parts...... usually involves deburring metal parts, a new seal, spring, perhaps honing out the piston chamber, application of proper lubes, and a custom made spring guide if you can buy one or have the skills to manufacture one.  You can of course just retain and use the stock spring guide if a custom one is not an option for you......

I just checked and the exploded view is in fact available in the "Library",,,, but here's the link anyway............

There's quite a bit of information available on GTA on doing home tunes on GAMO Shadows and other rifles.  Take some time, do a search and read the info, I'm sure you'll glean most of the information you will need and what information you don't understand you can always get simply by asking the members   :)

Thanks Jeff,

Very helpful.  I am cognizant of the need for a spring compressor and I don't have one so I am limited in what disassembly I can do .
The TurboTune w/GRT-III Trigger from AirGunToys.Com may be the way to go for me.

Thanks again. Great forum BTW.

John, you can't disassemble and reassemble your rifle without a spring compressor.  You'll either hurt yourself badly (if not kill yourself altogether) or break something with a flying part from the rifle.  If you're so inclined, you can upgrade your Shadow with a Theoben gas ram from Airgunerks.com.  I'm not entirely sure, but a Nitro Piston for the Whisper might fit; you should check with Airgunwerks, Pyramydair, or AirgunDepot.
