Went out for a few hours today, and despite the decent weather, i only saw one squirrel. I was sitting with my back up against an oak tree when i caught movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked and at 25 yards was the biggest black squirrel i have ever seen. I placed the crosshairs between his ear and eye, and slowly squeezed off the shot....and nothing. I missed him and couldn't believe it. He never moved though, and i cocked the disco again and held on his noggin. POP, and again nothing, but this time he spotted me and ran up a tree and inside his den. This is the only time i have had a shot at a jet black BT. The only other time i have seen them was while bowhunting for deer. I still am sick about it, as i know i may never get another chance. Anyway brought the disco home and set up a target. The thing was shooting 3 inches to the right. Glad i missed him clean, and hope i can get the POI shifting fixed. Maybe wednesday when i go back out, i'll get another shot at him. I wish i would have brought the 392 instead, as i would have a nice squirrel mount right now.
