When I woke up this morning the first thing I did was look out the bedroom window towards the suet feeders for any starling sign. All I could see was a swarming mass of black birds, each one with a yellow beak

It was the biggest flock I've had at my suet feeders in a long time, had to be close to 75 birds. I ran down to the basement shop, grabbed the .177 Disco and loaded her with a CPHP. Gently opened the bilco doors and was delighted to see that the birds were still there and oblivious to my presence. Took aim at a bird on the ground that gave me a clear breast shot and fired. At the shot the yellow beak tipped over, fell onto his side and never moved again.

I let him lay there as a decoy for the rest of the day but the birds that flew off never returned and for the rest of the day not one yellow beak ever showed up again. It was snowing out when I took the pic so the Disco isn't in the pics and I don't want to get snow on her, but the yellow beak layin in the snow says it all
