I don't know, but I find myself feelin real bad sometimes when an air gun that I have been watchin gets sold ?

I have bought almost every air gun that I'm really interested in, but while I'm checkin the Classifieds, I'll see one that catches my interest. I'll him and haw about it, until I feel that it's just not what I'm lookin for, and forget it for awile. Then, when I see that it's SOLD !!!! I start wishing that I would have bid on it ????? Heck, that sucker wasn't even on my short list !!!

Tomorrow I may not even care about this air gun ??? I'll be over it, but a few seem to have gotten under my skin, and I keep wonderin or wishin that I would have bought it ?

I seem to find myself hooked on pistols ? But I no longer have the strength for those long matches, no matter how much I try ! But they seem to be the ones that catch my eye most of the time ? So why do I keep feelin bad, or fallin for them ? And feeling so bad when they are SOLD ?????

I guess I just have that old air gun addiction ? HELP Ed, It hurts so BAD !!!!

Try relief- that's how I handle it. When I am thinking about one, I look at all I already have that aren't getting much range time, and feel guilty. I drag my feet and peek back at the classified. I think it is a little high priced, or shipping will be a killer, and hem and haw. Then all of a sudden it is SOLD and I breathe a sigh of relief- dang I almost bought that one, and the cash is still in my pocket.

Well, sometimes it works.

What I really hate is seeing the deal of the century (either that hard to find, must-have, or a great price)and SOLD on it, before I even knew it was posted. Those are the ones that hurt.

Had the "missed it" blues, myself. There was a super 10/22 sporter stock - great wood, checkering, buttpad, cheekpiece, etc - on the RimFireCentral forum last week for about $100, shipped. (It was, basically, a $300+ stock). Missed it by <------> much. Of course, those kind of things last, what, two-three minutes? I did regret not buying an old, cheap Gamo .22 springer because a lot of posts said they weren't that good, etc, but I sort of liked the looks of it. When I decided, what the heck?, it closed and someone bought it at the last minute. Those are the worst - you wait and hope that the seller will relist for a bit less and then they pull it or some new viewer hits the "ButItNow" right off the bat if they do. But, no matter. I've found that there's something cool coming up every day or so.

I hate to talk about it. Last year a local guy had a nice Beeman HW77 &  RX2  both w/ Hawk scopes, and each had a metal gun case.

Wanted $ 625.00. said he had over $ 1800 invested.

I gave it to much thought...and he sold them......stupid me!!

I know, I know,  what the h*ll was I thinking.

I understand waiting too long to buy an AirGun that has been on you want list.

But I'm having remorse for airguns that I have already eliminated from my want list, and I know that I don't need ! I 'm having the same problem as Jeff, I don't know enough about the NPSS's, and I still want one ???? Now that's not like me at all ! I'm anally retentive and have to be in control of my purchases. But it sure sound totally interesting to me !

Now last week I left a IZH46M get by me ! I was in the right place, at the right time, just posted ! But I know that I can't shoot a pistol match within the time limits unless I'm feelin great, so I held off until it sold, which wasn't long ! Now I'm telling myself what a great deal that was, and how much fun I could have had with that GREAT Air Pistol ! But where was all that advice and encouragement when I needed it ???

This problem being my own Monday morning quarterback sucks !!!!!

Life's too short and there are SO many guns that come up all the time. Worst case for me? I go into a gun shop and think I see a XXX grade stock over on the rimfire rack. Was into rimfires at the time and it turned out to be an air rifle, but thought I would take a look. Beeman R-1, the St. Elmo's address (or whatever it was when he was just importing them) and a Blue Ribbon scope - $450. Also had the Super Tune. But, being .177 and I had read that's not a good caliber for the R1 (thanks, Mr. Gaylord) and I shoot indoors, I figured it would be too hot. Also had some unfortunate dings and couple scratches in the wrist checkering. Aside from that, I would rate the stock as being the equivalent of at least a couple hundred bucks by today's standards. Also a FWB124 with scope, $285. This one had shrink-wrap on the barrel, which I thought was odd, but now know it was a special order from Air Rifle Headquarters. Passed on both, even though Mr. Beeman thought the R1 might have been a special order stock from him. I am positive that the R1 would fetch about $1000 today. But, what the hey, I was looking for rimfires. Also passed on a vintage Silver Streak with hold down safety, $65. It's all what you know and when you know it.  :D

One good thing about having some of the guns I want is that I can be a little more patient now. If I don't get the deal I want, I don't buy. I can negotiate down and not feel bad if it goes to someone else. I make sure not to underbid on what I really want... but how important is it to have that 11th or 12th gun? It was $200 important 3 months ago, and $150 important now.

There is an RWS 54 that looks near new that's been on the AAC for months. In that period of time, I looked at it, thought it was too much, bought a 350, traded it for a 48, and while it isn't recoiless and I had trouble with the deal I still think I'm in a better place. And the 54 is still for sale, I don't think the price has come down but $25. I got a Cometa Fenix from before the post RWS 94 appearance update, brand new for $140 shipped. I didn't need it. It was up for $190 plus shipping and I put in a bid explaining what the gun was worth to me. I told the seller he'd probably sell for more if he waited, but the offer stood. A few days later I got an email $10 over my offer, and I couldn't turn that down. If I bought new, I'd have to pay $350!! On the other hand, an RWS 94, virtually the same gun, was up for sale for $10 less than my offer, and the seller wouldn't post pictures. I don't have time to fuss with that kind of seller now...where I might have before.

On the other hand, I regret having found too many deals before I saw Gene post a Ruger Air Hawk for $200 with full tune, custom stock, and muzzle brake, as having a Cometa that he tuned I know the quality of what he keeps in his collection. Were I less 6 guns and knew more 6 months ago, I'd have been more picky on the way to where I am, but I'd have less experience with what to shoot...sort-a catch 22.

If it is something I really want, I weigh it against what I have to get rid of now. I'll pay it, but it has to be special. And sure I've missed a few, but I'll get an even better deal if I am patient and look for the right one.

How about Almost Buyer's Remorse? Saw an 1874 Rollingblock on Craiglist this afternoon for $150. Seller didn't know much about it but sounded really decent. Had a couple of callers but said he would hold it until after dinner. Well, I couldn't get away right then (daughter was coming back from tennis tryouts and needed a ride home) and my wife worked a bit late, so dinner ended around 7:45. Gathered up my stuff, started the car and called to say I was on my way. He says, "Oh, I waited as long as I could but there's another guy coming. I'll let you know if it sells or not." Like, "I'll let you know if the sun is going to come up tomorrow" - Hellooooo $150 for a rolling block???? That's a parts gun price. *&%^(@ And, no, he ain't called yet.  :emoticon:

Also just checked GB where I had the winning bid on a Gamo Silver Shadow 13 minutes to go - until someone just topped it and it's past my limit.

At least the *(&%_ snow is melting.

Oy, how about remorse AFTER a buy or trade... I have a long, sad, and ONGOING story of a disastrous trade. That is one I wish I never made, even though I've made progress with the gun I got, and am starting to warm to it...

Well, I can't top that. At least I'm not out anything except indigestion. Hope that 48 is working out for you.
