What is a good sub for the above that can be picked up locally in a small town say at Wally World? It says or other oil not a petroleum distillate based oil. Pretty limited to WM or car parts stores.

Honestly I wouldn't introduce any oil type lubes into airguns for the purpose of lubing the spring and or piston seal. It will create more problems instead of solving them like piston seal failure and possible spring damage. I know that some airgun companies recommend that you add their oil lube now and then but it will be the beginning of the end for the airgun. The best and proper lubes are applied during a tune when the airgun is apart and in specific area's and proper amount's. James Maccari is a airgun site where you can obtain these lubes along with part's to perform tunes. The link to his sight is located in our 'MALL' section on the forum here. Along with lubing the airgun it should undergo a debur , polish and update if needed of the piston seal and spring. I want to welcome you to the GTA FAMILY and I'm sure other family members will jump in with their take on this subject and any questions about tuning etc. feel free to ask there's plenty of info here and family to help you out. :) Ed

I agree with you shadow I use to use chamber lubes untill I learned to properly lube and tune airguns! Using anything in your compression tube to lube it other than moly or other proper lube will damage your gun destroy seals and springs I've see it first hand in my own guns!

Do not use oil on your spring. It will leak past the seal and cause detination... Bad bad bad for spring and seal...:(

This is from the manual of a H&K P30 CO2 pistol where is says to put the above oil on the slide rails and other moving parts such as the trigger hinge and threads of the gas capsule charging screw. It also says to add 2 drops of RWS Chamber Lube to the valve and shooting will spread that oil through the gun mechanism, I'm assuming that is the same as Pellgun oil which most say to put on the CO2 capsule. Look under care in the manual. My 1st CO2 air pistol and I'm pretty new to all airguns.

Well, that's a horse of a different color, as the gate master of OZ might say. CO2 guns are totally different from springers. Pelgun oil is, to the best of my knowledge, equivalent to 30W non-detergent motor oil, except for unit price. RWS chamber oil should be mostly silicone oil.
