Disco fill pressure?
« on: February 23, 2010, 11:01:01 PM »
I got a new Disco and while pumping it, I see that around 1800 PSI is the max I can fill it to. Around this pressure, the hand pump starts to push back any effort to press it further which I interpret means that the reservoir is full and wont take any more air. Is this normal? I know that pressure gauge aint wrong because the one one the pump and the gun show same readings.

bad pump?

Sounds like a bad check valve in the pump?  Your pump should go up to 3000psi easy (I dont mean easy pumping but it will pump that psi +).
And there is nothing in your rifle that would prevent it from taking say 6000psi (that would NOT be safe!!) . I got a FX pump with a bad gauge and accidently put 260bar in every rifle I own. Still under warrenty?

I would pump it as much as you can and then quickly open the pressure relief valve.  Do this a couple of times.  The other thing you can do is this......  spin the handle 5 or 6 times clockwise, give it 5 or 6 full turns, then see if the pump works.  I know spinning the handle sounds ridiculous but believe it or not sometimes it actually does fix the problem....  give it a try, ya got nothing to lose.

Thanks for the help guys, I will try spinning the pump handle and see if that works. I know the pump is ok because it fills my Marauder quite good.

No go. I tried turning the handle 6-7 times but it wouldn't budge past 1800 psi. I also bled the valve at 1800 and started filling again but after 2-3 pumps the pump would simply lock, as in, I cant depress it with full body weight even.

Well, you tried.   If it's under warranty send it back.  If not you can have it rebuilt for $25 bucks from the company that services them....

If the pump works on the Marauder then it can't be the pump.  Perhaps some sort of defect in the Disco I'm thinking.....

I had the same problem when I first got my Disco! I span the handle a few times and then opened up the little valve. It dumped all the air in the gun. After that, it pumped up fine and has worked well ever since! Have you tried degassing the gun and pushing in the valve a touch at the front of the gun! (TOTALLY DEGAS  IT FIRST though!!) It might be sticking due to manufacturing gunk in the valve!
