Information regarding the Butt Stock
« on: February 24, 2010, 03:46:07 AM »
What this brown beech wood means. Is it the same wood of which the stock comes with the Air Rifle or some other. Please do let me know about this wood. And if possible do send me the pics of the stock made of this wood

Is this in reference to a certain gun or just about the wood, in general? Beech is a light colored, dense hardwood popular in Europe for stocking air rifles. It was also used to stock military arms. Not as expensive as walnut, I think somewhat tighter grain with very little figure or pattern to the it. If you look at pictures of RWS or Diana air rifles, you will see what beech stocks look like. Most are a light to dark tan. If you want to see better looking beech on a rifle, go to CZUSA's website and look at the 452's. I recently picked up a late model CZ rimfire that I thought was light walnut, but turned out to be a pretty grade of beech. Too bad the air gun companies don't offer it.
