I should hope for a good long time. Does the Cat have a plastic breech or is the block steel like on the Shadows and 440? That would be the only thing I could think of that might wear moreso than any other.

BTW, how do you like the BC? Fellow has one for sale locally for $50. The usual "a little rust that should easily clean off". What's to rust? The compression tube and trigger?

Love it! I have the Hunter Sport too which is pretty much the same gun with wood and they both shoot very nice. To be honest it doesnt make much sense to me to have 2 of the same guns except that I initially thought my Hunter Sport was used so i got a BC to drop into the Sport's wooden stock. Im not a fan of synthetic stocks so I've converted both to wood. My last aquisition was a Hunter elite stock where my newest BC resides in. The power is great and the accuracy is very good too. I find the stock scopes that come with the guns to be good too. 50.00 is a bargain!! I found that the one I thought was used shoots just as hard and fast as the new unpacked BC.It just has a different sound.

Haven't heard from the guy yet. I seem to remember someone selling the same gun for $70 last fall or thereabouts. Thinking this is the same one. I re-read the ad. Says rust on barrel. Isn't that a synthetic covered liner? What's there to rust?

Both my Gamo Viper and Big Cat's main spring broke around 3500 shots. The BC have always been loud but the Viper just recently got abit louder than usual.....after the first few shots of a session there's abit of yellowish fume in the barrel (Didn't have that before) so I'm assuming the piston seal have a leak....rifle's in it's 4200th shot. Both their scopes have gone south around the 3200th shot.

The BC have the plastic covered barrel pivot area....so there's a very slight bit of barrel movement....maybe that area worn down or it was like that before, and I didn't notice it until I read about it and checked. The Viper is steel.....no barrel wiggle at all.

My Whisper is still the only Gamo with it's original spring and "Package" scope....I've only put 1200 shots through her. I don't use her for target practice or plinking....I only use her for sniping at pesky birds after it's been zero-ed.

50 is a steal! Barrel is shrouded in plastic, dont know how it could rust. I would snatch it up in a hurry if it shoots. I like mine very much, great accuray and power. mine shoots 926 avg fps with jsb 7.33 gr. Now that my hunter bas ablown gasket I will work on the Big cat more and realy stretch it out.
