Got an RWS38 put back together with a Vortek PG2 kit
« on: February 26, 2010, 07:15:31 AM »
The gun is 32 years old and the spring was broken into 3 pieces when it was handed to me by my friend who asked me to fix it for him.  I took the gun apart, lubed the seal, which was in pristine condition and put the piston back in.  I ordered the Vortek Pro Guide 2 and got it in the mail today.  It went it with no muss and no fuss.  I put the rifle back together and test fired it.  HOLY MOLY, the Pro Guide 2 kit is so smooth and noise free, all I felt was the thump of the piston.  The rifle also didn't jump like a normal springer would.  I give 5 stars to the Vortek Pro Guide 2 kit.  If your gun can't be upgraded with a gas ram, the Pro Guide 2 kit is the next best thing, in my honest opinion!!

That's very good news. I have two on the way for two B-26's. The last e-mail from Vortek said early in March. I would be interested to know what all came with the kit?

Walt! I'm thinking about ordering a Vortek kit for a B-40 I picked up a couple of weeks ago.Let me know how you like it in the B-26s. I still have 5,000 Vortek pellets from the early 90s and a Vortek muzzle brake from the same time period. I can't imagine they put out anything but a superior product.

The kit comes with the Pro Guide 2, a container of lubricant that you spread on the exposed spring coils and the spring guide's outer surface, and instructions.

Vortek does put out superior products.  They were the ones contracted by Crosman to make the Nitro Pistons before Crosman decided to start making the NPs themselves.

Archer,

Are you happy with your Vortek 350?

I just went to my pellet trap with my RWS 350 and put a few pellets into it.  OMG, it is amazing!  It's a much calmer rifle now without the spring torque.  Definitely has some power to it.  It was chronied at 867 fps with 14.3 grain pellets.
