.22 Disco Arrived :)
« on: February 26, 2010, 07:47:31 AM »
the UPS guy just dropped off my new .22 disco and I just got done cleaning her up, tightening her up, airing her up and installing a leapers 3x9x32 AO on a set of Accushot 2 piece high mount rings.  I just tucked her away in the gun safe right next to her twin..... my .177 disco with the same scope/mount  :)

Just a few observations......  P.A. nicely double boxed the rifle.  Inspection revealed no scratches or marks on the metal or the stock.  The bluing is very nice and even colored.  The stock on this .22 is about 1 1/4  inches longer than the stock on my .177 and this stock is also a little bit thicker in and around the pistol grip area which makes it more comfortable than my .177.  The stock itself is very nicely stained but I seriously doubt it's any kind of walnut.  My .177 definitely has a walnut stock that is very attractive.  This stock has a nice  grain pattern to it and it's stained very nice and is nice to look at, but no way is it walnut.  Not quite sure what kind of wood it is.  This stock is also much lighter in weight than my walnut .177 stock.  My .177 disco and this new .22 have the same rings and scope and both are aired up to exactly 2000 psi......  I weighed them on the certified digital scale that I use in fishing tournaments and the scale revealed that the .177 weighs 6 lbs 15 ounces and the new .22 weighs 6 lbs 5 ounces.  Even with the stock being 1 1/4 inches longer and thicker in design the .22 stock is a full 10 ounces lighter.   The stock is fine with me, I'm happy with it, but I found it interesting how much lighter it is.  I went back to the P.A. website and re-read the specs for the disco...... it simply says...  "hardwood stock".....  so I guess they must've stopped making them with the walnut.  Oh well, like I said, the stock is fine with me  :)

Anyway, I'm going to let it sit in the safe overnight to make sure she doesn't have any leaks and then tomorrow I'll see how she shoots.

I've wanted a .22 disco ever since I got my .177 so I'm really looking forward to getting her sighted in so she can start hunting......

It certainly is  :)

I got a little nervous when the UPS guy showed up.... I was in the basement working on something and my wife got to the door first and signed for the gun. She asked me if I had bought another gun and I figured I was going to get an "earful" but when I told her... "yes, it's my birthday present to myself" she just looked at me and smiled and said.... "I was only kidding,,, I don't care what you buy".  I was dumbfounded, but I grabbed my plunder and ran down to the basement workshop like a kid on Christmas    :)

Congratulation Jeff. Real happy for you buddy. Now let see some pictures...:) Can you show both guns together in one shot also.  Guess you will not be needing one of Timmy's stocks now so I will buy the next one also. Just placed an order for another Disco so I can get a laminant stock from Timmy..:)

Congrads on the .22 Disco Jeff. I hope it shoots as good as your .177. Now your only problem will be which one to take a walk in the woods with. Aren't these little Disco's great. I sure like the looks of Timmy's laminate stocks for the Disco but I keep resisting. I do not need one, I don't not need one, but boy oh boy it sure would look nice on my Disco .177.

Any comparisons on the .22 and the .177 yet Jeff? I'm pleased with my .22 but keep thinking maybe I should have got the .177 for target shooting! How many good shots do you get with both guns? With the .22 I get about 30 good shots before the sound changes to a more futty sound! That's when I know I need to pump her up again!!

Thanks for the good Karma guys  :)

Charlie.....  I agree with  you, these little disco's are great :)  light, accurate, powerful and best of all just 2000 psi fill....  As for Timmy's stocks... I am hoping that one of these days one, or both of my discos will be sporting his stocks... that would make them "complete"  :)

Gene, as for pushing my luck and ordering another gun..... it's funny  you should mention that  cause I got my eye on a shooter as I type  :)

Andy,,, I haven't shot the .22 yet.  I wanted to let it sit in the gun safe for a full 24 hours with a full 2000 psi charge to make sure there's no leaks.  It's only about an hour away from that full 24 hour period and so far she's holding steady with no air loss  :)  I wanted to do some shooting this afternoon but my TKO brake won't be here for a few more days so I can't shoot her in the backyard yet.  I had planned on going to the duck farm and testing her there but with all this snow I think I may just wait for my TKO to arrive.  My .177 is a tack driver with the CPHP's I've been using, I'm hoping the .22  shoots as well, time will tell.  I don't really target shoot, unless it's to check  a gun before I go hunting or test new pellets but my .177 is so accurate I wouldn't hesitate to use it for competitive target shooting.

That new shooter you got your eyes on is a Trail xl isn't it? lol. I'm eyeballing that one too. I'll let the guinea pigs test her out for me before I hit the button. No offense guys, but I'm making the decision based on your reviews...
