Gas Ram Upgrade
« on: February 26, 2010, 09:04:19 AM »
Anyone know of a Gas Ram Upgrade that will fit in my Gamo Hunter 220?  Also any Pros/Cons from others?  I looked at Pyramid and Vortek but looking for some solid advice Thanks in advance!

Kevin,

Try a search using "Air Venturi" there's been a few of us in the past year that have put gas rams in and reported on them.

I had one installed by pyramid air about a month ago in my gamo cfx. I like not having all the annoying spring twang but the recoil is more with gas ram, as far as consistency I can say now after many other repairs it does seem to be very consistent.i do not have a crony to prove any speed change.

I have a gas ram in my hunter sport and love it. I have a big cat with spring and the gas ram is much smoother and about 60 70 ft faster. The seals blew out after only a month in my hunter gas ram installed by pyramid air. Somebody else here had a CDs that had a gas ram conversion by pyramid and it had the same problem about 2 weeks ago. I just built a spring compressor out n the garage and took a gun apart easy as pie. If you can I'd order the ram and install it yourself that way you can do what you want and and take care of all the small details like debut the inside and realy clean and inspect your gun. Also I just ordered the better seals for 40 bucks so I will have all the top of the line stuf and the satisfaction of knowing I did it and can do it.

I owe it to the peeps here though. They had all the Info I just ordered parts and built the compressor. This forum is awesome!

Hope this helps .

Kevin, check out this site.  They might have something for you: http://www.airgunwerks.com/theobengasstrut.html  If not, contact Vortekproducts.com and see if they'll custom build a gas ram for you.
