Huge markups by some airgun/accessory sellers tick me off.
« on: February 27, 2010, 07:26:08 PM »
Someone posted a link to an eBay auction...and so I started browsing eBay. DAMN some of those people just charge huge prices for pellets. I see pellets with an MSRP of $7.99 being listed for $15-20 with shipping...WTF?! And they don't sell that many either. And some people who have their own web sites like to charge a friggen huge markup too on stuff you can just order online and put together. In my opinion, these kinds of people drive folks away from the hobby and hurt it overall...and it just plain &^%$es me off either way.

I know how you feel Michael. The old saying " let the buyer beware " applies more than ever now. When I need to purchase something I always do an extensive Internet search and not only compare the prices, but also the shipping, that's were they can get you if you aren't paying attention. Like those infomercials that say " buy one get one free, just pay additional shipping and possessing" so it's not really "free". The additional S&P is probably all profit. Some sites make it really hard to get the shipping amount, so I usually pass on those stores. snookman

We were just talking about ebay and the insane shipping cost on stuff last friday here at work. A guy I work with found great deals on things he was looking for but the shipping on one of them was $50 on a $20 purchase that weighed less than a pound. NUTS! but hey thats how they get ya. I dont even look on ebay because of that and every purchase my wife has made was a bust. everything she got was either a fake or busted. Ebay is ranked right there with all the face book/myspace crap. Those things ar ethe devil! lol I cant stand them.

Fleabay is a recurring joke over on RimFireCentral, especially for the Mossberg owners. Sights in particular. A good used Mossberg peep sight that you can get for around $30-$40 at a show or from another member will go for $75 once the piranha get through with it. Fleabay has actually driven up the cost of parts on a lot of guns for no other reason than dumb bidders over paying.
