Goose Egg!
« on: March 01, 2010, 02:30:52 AM »
Well I was at WalMart again the other day cruising the sporting goods section when I spotted a Bushnell Sentry IR trail cam on sale so like all good macho men I begged the wife to let me purchase it.. She just rolled here eyes and talked about working to support my hobbies. I laughed and grabbed it off the shelf. I brought it home then it dawned on me darn I need a SD card and snuck out to go to WalMart again. Once the mission was complete I set up the camera on the outside of the fence facing a trail used by horseback riders that borders a canyon. Placed some tuna fish out there for bait and took some test photos to make sure the shot was in the frame of the photo. All good... secured the camera and left it overnight.  Well the wife got me up early today to go get the camera to see what critters have wandered our way during the night. I brought it back to the house and put the SD card in the reader to view and viewed 2 nice photos of my fat head!... Once again the wife rolled her eyes and said something about my hobbies... I told her it's only the first night and we'll try again tonight... Details to follow....

Great story  :)  I can just picture the look on your wifes face as she rolled her eyes at you  :)   LOL

Looking forward to your trail pics...  I'd love to get one of those to use in the woods I do my bow hunting in but it's public land and I just know someone would steal it on me.  One of my friends told me the other day that his 14 year old son, who loves to hunt and who will be bow hunting for the first time next season, saved up his allowance  for months along with $ he got from collecting the deposit on bottles and cans he found and bought himself a trail cam.  He set it up in the woods down the street, where he plans on bow hunting.  For several days he would religiously retrieve his memory card and would have great pics of some nice deer, then one day he went down to check on it and it was gone, some "dirt bag" had stolen it.    :(   Poor kid was heart broken.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to those pics  :)

The big foot idea is awesome! A couple guys I work with have the trail camera set up. I could only imagine how excited they would be to see big foot staring into their camera! They would spend days in their tree stand trying to get a shot. I will have to look into that. Thanks for the idea.

Sardines are the ticket for raccoons.  They seem to have sardine radar!

I haven't had the heart to retrieve my camera today.  Hunting season ran out at midnight and I'll just be bummed at what I see.

I'm moving it out to my friend Jim's house this week to see if there are any turkeys about.
