« on: March 01, 2010, 02:55:06 PM »
Hi guys,
I'm looking to mod a 2240 for hunting/pest issues etc.The reason being is I'm looking for a "backpack" rig, that can take small game out to say 20-30 yards.Any experiences or thoughts on this?

Thanks guys,I asked because I get mixed opinions about it.I have heard some guys say...don't attempt it.
I hear these guns are reasonably accurate, and can produce over 550 fps when modded. The way a see I things,it should be fine at 25 yards or so,for nutters, rats, and bunnies, with with well placed shots.Sure wish I could fold up my Disco .22,and stick that in my pack!

Whats the price difference from the 'shop' to mac-1?  Crosman wanted around $88 for the long barrel, stock grip, trigger shoe, long steel breech and no sights.  Bass Pro has a few nice red dots cheaper than what they want.

One word For you (Roy weid) I'm getting my 2250xt custom built roy only works a few hours a day on his tuning and fab work when I spoke to him last week I had 4 more guns before mines without a doubt the longer barrel is a must for more added power I have the bulkfilled model so I can use 88gram co2 powerlets or Used a adapter to use a 10oz bottle. Paintball gun style Also powerlets are cheaper at walls of marts.

Browning 800 mag is a pistol of choice for huntin 20yrds and in. But its heavy and a beast if I'm hunting birds or a squirrel I would use this pistol or a 1377 /1322. Both pistols are pushing 600 plus fps also the 800 mag now comes in .22 cal I was going to get a .22 800 mag but went co2 with the 2250xt its light a .22 cal and can be modded 745fps with .14.3 grains is possible that's why I sent mines to roy wied (mountainaircustomairguns.com)but u will be waiting a bit his work is custom.sweet

It looks like Tim @ Mac1 charges $25 for a power prep, and $25 for an accuracy prep, over the base cost of the gun....not bad. However, like you I was looking at just the 2300kt with 10 barrel, and long breech.I could be wrong, but it doesn't appear as if Tim offers the steel breech, and longer barrel. So being  that's what I'm looking for, ordering direct from Crosman seems to be a better deal initially.I know people that have had their guns worked on by Tim,and he does GREAT work, and I wouldn't hesitate to have my gun worked on at a later date, after the initial purchase.
