There were hundreds, if not thousands of squirrels in the stewpot over the past 25 years as testimony to the accuracy and effectiveness of my FWB 127D with Bushnell 4x32 AO airgun rated scope. Most shots were kept within 30 or so yards, and a full bag limit was commonplace. Ah, the good old days......
The pellets I used in the 127 were Milbro Caledonian diabolos - they work great in this rifle.

squirrel since I was a little kid on my grandparents farm and that's been over 60 years ago. Sherry won't fix them or even try as good a cook as she is. Thinks that for all the work involved it ain't worth it and besides, they kinda look like rats...lol... Can't argue that part :)

My R1 in .20 shoots 3/4" groups at 50 yards rested. It holds 2.5" groups at 100 yards with a slight breeze rested. I shoot FTS in it.
My HW97 is a bit more accurate at 50 yards, but I have never bench rested it. I shoot CPL's in it in .177.
Not sure about the B30 at long ranges, but it's dead on accurate for hunting. I'll have to shoot some groups with it and post them as soon as I get some more pellets. I shoot .22 FTS in it.

A side toptic, more or less related.

Have been accused of being too hard-core becasue I shoot 5 5-shot groups in my shake-down tests, then  go to 10-shot groups when selecting the absolute-best-ammo from the almost-best.  Know it makes my group averages larger, but to me, an airgun has to be consistant to be of any real use.

I used to hunt them....

At my inlaw's farm, in a bush area alongside a large cornfield. The squirrels fed on the corn - they were huge compared to their urban cousins, and they tasted like corn fed veal. The in-laws sold the farm a few years back, due to age/health problems, and sadly, the best squirrel hunting I had ever known was a thing of the past.( the new owner was anti-hunting). Life goes on.....lol.

Maybe..I certainly find it works for me, and as my only goal is to know the real accuracy of a gun/pellet combination, it makes for a more confident assessement.

Don't get me wrong, won't waste my time with 5 5-shot groups with a pellet that shoots poorly for the first two 5-shot groups.....can rule out the real stinkers pretty fast.

maybe this is sort of off-topic, but being a scientist by trade, I always like to remind people of precision vs. accuracy.

http://honolulu.hawaii.edu/distance/sci122/SciLab/L5/accprec.html

What one should strive for is both, not just accuracy.

I think when people say "accurate" they mean "accurate and precise" and maybe they even know the meaning of each term and are just shortening it for ease of speech.

Just thought I'd point it out in the interest of being accurate =D

Logun Solo.... ragged one hole. CP heavies, 44 Mag on top, tho that will change soon.

The Solo (Typhoon) is the best bargain in the airgun world.

Rifle Number 1:

.177 Beeman R-9 "Goldfinger" with Bushnell Banner 4-12 A.O. scope in medium Beeman @pc mounts.

This rifle will shoot 5 CPL's, Copperheads, Exacts, or Beeman FTS pellets inside a 1" circle at 50 yards.

Rifle Number 2:

.20 Beeman R-9, de-burred and lube-tuned by yours truly, with a Wal Mart Bushnell Sportsman 4-12 A.O. scope in 2pc medium SportsMatch ring mounts.

It will also put 5 pellets inside a 1" circle at 50 yards when using Beeman FTS pellets.

The .20 is just slightly tighter grouping, overall, than the .177 is.  I'm sure that caliber has nothing to do with it and that a different pair of these rifles might have the .177 trumping the .20 in the precision department.
