B-3 trigger pin
« on: March 06, 2010, 09:59:08 AM »
Took my B-3 out of the stock and the first thing I noticed was the little pin which holds the sheet metal trigger to the trigger block fell out. Was a minor miracle I could find it. That trigger arrangement with the little straight spring must be the Chinese getting back at us for the Korean War. I got it back together, it fell out, again, found it and reassembled. Only thing is, it wants to walk out now. Though it might be tapered but it doesn't want to stay put either way. The stock is not tight enough to retain it. How do you keep it from sliding on out? I'm thinking I will have to get a finishing nail and trim it so that it sticks out on either side and just clears the stock.

Hey Redfeather,

Did you try "ovalizing" the pin by slightly deforming it on one end with a hammer against a solid piece of metal like a vise?  I've had to do this a few times and it worked well for me.  Never had one "walk" back out but possible.

Nope. Just stuck it back in. That might work. I could also brace the back and center punch it but the pin's so tiny it will be kind of hard.

Head on down to the nail bin and size one out for the job. I just took the pins along with me and sorted through the bins until I found a size I was happy with, cut to length and you should be good to go. I polish my pins and if you do the same take that into consideration when sizing one. Ed
