newbie poster and to air power
« on: March 06, 2010, 05:54:48 PM »
Hi gents and ladies

(I suspect despite the testosterone here there might be a few of the fairer *_*_*_*_*_* reading.)

Years ago, longer than I will admit, my folks gave me a BB gun and well being what a BB gun was then as soon as I was allowed to use a 22 rimfire I was through with air. But recently I bought a Crosman Quest 1000, still deep winter here in North Dakota but on the few days I've had that weren't too bitterly cold or windy I've had it out and I am very surprised, happily so. Shooting either rimfire or centerfire isn't a problem here, my family has land minutes away where I can shoot, but I am hoping that the Quest will allow me to do a bit of target and plinking without having to leave town.

Anyway fascinating rifles and pistols, I hope this leads to as much pleasure as firearms has done for me.

Terry

A big welcome to the GTA forum and family.  As the above posters have mentioned....this hobby is addictive.  Better than drugs or booze though.  With your new Crosman Quest 1000 you'll be able to put in more trigger time....that'll definitely help you in the firearms department.  Enjoy your new hobby.

Terry,

Before you find out the hard way check your local town ordinances and make sure it is legal to fire an air rifle in town. Or plan on discretely shooting in your basement, shop, out building or garage.

And oh yes.......let me echo the others: WELCOME!

Thanks for the warm welcome, and the addiction has already set in... Mrod or Disco... decisions decisions decisions. Seriously though the folks I've met in the shooting sports are some of the nicest and most helpful folks, it isn't every hobby where most everyone will take time to help out a newbie.

Terry, if you are a big guy like myself you may find that the Disco is a bit small. The Marauder has a much larger stock. I prefer the Kantana which is the Disco with a larger stock, has the Mauauder trigger group and choked barrel.  Now you have one more choice:)
