Big Cat tune up and trigger results.
« on: March 07, 2010, 02:40:52 PM »
After ordering a seal kit for my Hunter that came with a new tuned spring I didnt need for that gun I figured I put it in my Big Cat that I let the daughter shoot. I also ordered her the GRT 3 trigger since she like mine so much. Well I broke it down and It was put together a little better than my Hunter was. The pin that goes through the plug that holds the spring in was textured on one end to keep it from moving, the bolt that secures the plug actually had a peice that went around it and lined up with 2 slits on the stock to line things up better. And the fit of the stock to the gun was better.

Well I got it apart and the sring was actually bent. Good thing I decided to replace it. So I  deburred it all, installed the Apex small seal, spring with the black grease and then the GRT3 trigger. The new spring was about 3/4 in longer. Got it all back together and man am I impressed! Ran about 10 shots through it then shot it over the chrono. 924 fps avg with JSB 7.33 gr. No more spirngy sproing noise. Very smooth. STill has the jump of a spring gun but alot smoother. Between the trigger and spring that gun is shooting very nicly. little tiny group from 35 ft.  Was good before but now I almost like it more than my hunter. Just need to fill the stock with foam and it will be done, for now.  Cant wait for next weekend to take both my guns down to the swamp for a shoot off.

Nice group, your getting good at tuning. I enjoyed tearing mine apart last week, still waiting for my spring and seals.

Very good group.   What was the spring you used?

It was the E3650 that came with the tune kit. Nice and quiet with the grease on it. I can't wit to get out there this weekend and get it dialed in for 25 yards to see the groups. It's amazing how much a trigger spring and seal can realy bring out the best in a gun. But when you think about it's that's the heart and soul of the guns. I like the kit and ordered another and a couple more seals for the rainy day when it happens.
