I have NO LUCK with guns! TF 99 Problem
« on: March 10, 2010, 01:35:22 AM »
Okay I bought a TF 99 from Jaymo. Shot it a few times and it seemed okay just a bit smokey.  I then cocked it and the trigger was stuck to the rear and I couldn't get the barrel to go back forward.  So NOW the spring is compressed and I can't get the arm to go forward.  Bright me thought I I pushed down one of the little levers it would be okay. The trouble with that is it almost broke my wrist springing forward!

Can anyone help me "unjam" this thing?

I WILL conquer that Titan even if it means sending it to someone competent.  What I think it needs is another spring that isn't as powerful.

My TF 89 is really nice. Again, if I know what I know now, the Contender is a nicer gun.

This gun has a different trigger or I probably can figure it out.

Can anyone at least point me to a trigger diagram?  Or instructions on how it goes together?

First thing I would look at is the trigger spring itself. I don't have one anymore but I did, and the trigger was fairly tricky to re-install. I have pictures on another computer and will go have a look. I have seen this spring install inquired about a few times, so it is a likely suspect.

I never broke this one all the way down but I did spend some time on the trigger and that's about all I got for this issue. If trig was stuck to the rear, it might be the culprit. Let me look up the pictures and I wlll get back to you. I might also have a scan of the parts breakdown in the manual but it was not much help as I recall.

That would be great! I've emailed Mike Melick about putting it back together for me.  I've never messed with an underlever gun.

2 of these are mine, but the full layout photo of the trigger parts was from another poster a long time ago, and it was so good I saved it. The manual page is a scan.

I remember the spring was bent double and the catch for it is shown as a little copper end in the trigger bottom photo. I used a forceps to re-install it in the correct position.

Hope this helps. I might also look at orientation of the cocking slot and engagement of the sear or whatever contacts it. Anything MM would say probably trumps my little adventure with these.

How many pins are in the safety?  I think I'm missing the little one.
