Skenco Hyper-Velocity Lead Free Field Pellets
« on: April 12, 2007, 12:37:19 PM »
Hi everyone I was just on pyramidair looking at all the different pellets when I came across these Skenco pellets.  They really captured my attention so I did some background research to discover that folks say they are wonderful for small game hunting.  Supposedly they pentrate great and increase velocity by about 20%.  I also read that they don't work in some of Gamo and other air pistols because they are too long to fit in the mags.  My question is does anyone know if they will fit in a CFX?  Will the whole rotary breech thing cause problems you think?  Also has anyone every used these pellets before or know anything else about them?

Thanks
Brian

I have not tried them, although i check them out everytime i visit that site. The only thing that bothers me about them Sabots,is a build up plastic in bore,so that would worry me ,sorry for no more help.

Hi Brian.... If those are plastic coated pellets, I would think they may not work well on an un-seasoned barrel.. Why? Because a pellet gun or rifle really needs the lead pellets to seaon the barrel.. That is why many of us will tell you that on a new air rifle you should shoot 500 to a 1000 lead pellets through the barrel to fill in all the small imperfections and the rifling. For the most part lead pellets skirts are made to expand when gun is fired.. The air pressure behind the pellet will expand the skirts and form a seal inside the barrel as it passes through..

That is one of the reasons I do not use non lead pellets in any of my air guns.. They are desgined to shoot lead pellets.

I am not saying that those Skenco pellets, are bad but just be aware of how pellet guns are made and what they are designed to shoot..:)
