.22 Disco First Blood
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:55:18 PM »
Yesterday afternoon I filled up all the bird feeders, threw out 2 loaves of old bread, a package of old bagels and a whole mess of stale crackers and cereal.  I haven't seen a yellow beak in quite a while now but I was hoping all the new feed would bring some in.  Well, I didn't draw in any large flocks but I did get 4 yellow beaks to come visit during the day and they never left  :)

Took 4 shots, each shot just about 30 yards and wound up with 4 DOA yellow beaks.  The disco spit those 4 FTS pellets out with surgical precision, striking each bird exactly where I aimed and the pellets really tore em up too :)

I did a lot of shooting with the disco yesterday, was doing chrony testing and shot count testing with the FTS pellets and the 18.1 gr JSB's and the more I shot the rifle the more impressed  I was with it.  I was really excited today to get to shoot at some live targets.  This rifle is gonna wreak havoc on the squirrel population when the season opens up again in November  :)

Anyway, I can't post any pics as my digital camera is on the "fritz" but they were nice looking birds..... especially with those big holes in them :)

Great shooting friend!  I may need to go to the "dark side" for hunting prairie dogs. However, I'm planning right now to go to the "darkest side" and get a powder gun for them.

I did see some yellow beaks the other day out at our fun shoot.  I should have engaged them, but I was too busy trying to make sure that the powder guys didn't shoot each other!  They seem to be really scattered here as the weather is getting nicer.

It is truly a bad time of year for the hunters out there.  Even though we can shoot stuff it may not be right to shoot them while the critters are raising the next generation of "targets" :D

On Saturday if it is semi-nice I'm going out to build a blind for hunting turkeys and coyotes at my friend Jim's house.  I haven't bought the coyote gun yet, but I'm closing in on a couple of possibles.  I DID get my shotgun back from my brother's house.  Before turkey season I'm going to get some high brass shells for it and get ready to go!  I have a call and practice watching the Sportsman Channel :)

Dave, the gun is bone stock.  All I did was clean the barrel.  I don't know if I got lucky or what but the trigger on this disco is really nice !!  It's got a really nice "feel" to it and it's got a nice clean, crisp break to it,  you can easily feel when you're reaching the break point.    I like the trigger on my .177 disco also but the one on this .22 is really sweet and plays a big part in making her so darn easy to shoot accurately.  :)
