the dot in the sight for red dot sights? I have an Aimpoint brochure, and it says,"Aimpoint sights are parallax free, which means that the visible dot remains parallel to the bore of your weapon no matter what angle your eye is in relation to the sight." It sounds like its something that they do, and not all others do.It also says," Red dot sights are superior to iron sights and magnafying sights in many ways." Proven to be fastest type of reticle to place on target...." Thoughts-comments?

Centering the dot, takes care of any parallax that the sight "might" have.   From what I have read, different red dot sights do have parallax error, and some have a LOT of parallax error.  And the parallax error varies for different distances.  So the centering the dot technique minimizes the parallax error.
And centering does not mean the EXACT center, but "somewhat" in the center...close counts.
This is not combat, so why not take the extra second to center the dot.

I like red dots sights cuz they are easy to teach a new shooter to use.  I've had trouble getting adults to understand proper sight alignment with iron sights.  The red dots just makes that part of the training easier and faster.

It would be wise to learn the most efficient way first - center the dot. That article I read through me off a little. I can see that with a laser, but the red dot not being centered confused me.
